Discover® Open Road CardFirst of all, Discover is accepted at more and more places ... gas stations and restaurants being among the most common. Which is huge, because this card earns you 2% cash back on the first $250 in gasoline and food you spend in a month. \r\n\r\nAlot of people like the "More" cards ... but with the Open Road Card, you skip the ".25% until you spend $3,000 in one year threshold. Actually, that's still there - but it doesn't apply to the gasoline and food purchases. And since you're probably not going to charge more than $250 bucks a month to your credit card on a regular basis anyway, it's a great way to get cash back on expenditures you're going to make no matter what. \r\n\r\nHere's another sweep tip I like to use: when you use the ShopDiscover site to earn between 5% and 20% cash back (you've got to shop online) at places like Home Depot, Best Buy, etc. - opt for the in-store pick up. You'll still get your 5% cash back, but you can dodge the shipping costs you've usually got to pay when you shop online!\r\n\r\nDownside: The APR for Discover cards can be kind of high. You're really better off paying this one DOWN completely each month (as you'd have to do for gasoline and food expenditures anyway). |

Banana Republic CardI stumbled on the review site, and maybe I'm not the one to be on here. First, I pay off all my credit cards at the end of the month and use one of four different cards during the year, depending on which if offering a special of some kind. I do not carry debt, but charge most all of my expenses for points, which really pays off. The BR card just sent my a 5X points offer for November and December. This is a really great deal, trust me. I'll get 100 worth of free clothes of it for sure. If you have debt or spending problem. Maybe this isn't the card for you. Certainly, no one likes debt collectors bugging them. So, pay your bills people. It seems like all the complaints stem from being behind or late on payments. Yes, the credit card companies spank you big time if you're naughty. We can be their slaves for sure...so don't be. I pay my bill online through my bank, never had a problem once. I simply don't understand why ANYONE would drive to BR to pay their bill in person. Just my 2 cents.... |
