"Increase in interest rate"
We were really irate when our interest rate increased from 10+% to almost 25% without any reason. We always paid our bill.

Most attractive feature: I see no difference between this card and any other card. I expected better of AARP.

"Great card for people with excellent credit."
I've enjoyed using my AARP's credit card and have already received $75.00 cash rewards back within a years time. Customer service was always prompt and courteous and my cash back check arrived very promptly. This card is wonderful for people who do not carry a balance and pay promptly!

Most attractive feature: Rewards program is fantastic!

"Payment Allocations"
After getting a balance transfer to Bank One Visa they stopped allocation of payment to pay finance charges on purchases and advances. The finance charges are added to the balances thus componding the interest. They also increased the interstest rate for advance balance from 15.6% to 19.99%.

"Charge for late payment fee"
In January 2004, I received Statement two days after payment was due for which they attempted to charge a $35.00 late fee. After much rigmarole, they deleted late payment fee but I cancelled the account. Would strongly not recommend this credit card UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

"Don't trouble yourself with this card."
I concur with others who have rated this card poorly. At one time or another I have experienced the same problems. I no longer use the card. I think AARP should find another provider of this service. The current one is an absolute disservice to its members.

"AARP Platinum VISA "
Applied for card after receiving mailings from AARP. Have had card for a month and can get no satisfaction from AARP or Bank One. Have been trying to get on-line access to card which is an absolute requirement and they cannot or will not resolve their problems. Have had promises of it will work in three days and now they will not even give a time frame. AARP Should be extremely embarrased to have its name associated with such poor service. At this point I STONGLY recommend that no one apply for this card. Those who have it and have problems should flood AARP and Bank One with complaints. Also, AARP has not been helpful or timely in asisting to resolve this problem.

"AARP Rwards"
I have Over $11000. in rewards. Since the program works only in $2500 amounts the reward is for the $10,000 not the full amount. I could continue charging on the card but I have a better deal. The $2500 blocks are not spelled out in the terms of the card. Service is dogmatic and unyielding.

Most attractive feature: 1% rewards
Least attractive feature: reward must be in $2500 blocks.

"A Very Bad Company"
I do not recommend this card to anyone. I have had the same experiences as described by the other reviews for this card. Payments are posted in such a way that you sometimes incur a late fee--even though you paid on time!

"Bad Company to be with"
Thsi company prdies itself in extarcting money from credit card holders.. like delaying the postings of a payment so they can charge their $20 late payment fee. With a higher than market rate APR and a demonstrated tendency to delay postings payments.. I would suggets that you do business with them at your own risk.. they embrace the Calvinistic ethos that if you ahve aproblem.. it's probably your fault. Or so it seems.

Most attractive feature: None
Least attractive feature: They seem to intentionally delay pmt postings so they can bill you $20 late payment fee
