"Why pay for an international debit card when you can get it free?"
This card is issued in conjunction with a standard U.K. checking account with free overdraft facilities. All debits show on the account statement so you do not need a seperate card statement and are converted to sterling automatically. The card can be used for purchases or cash withdrawals in a multitude of local currencies and the account opens up the way to many low cost premium services as Nationwide is a mutual company.
