Interest rate hike

Just got a limit increase, which is great. Then a letter next day saying interest rate is going up to nearly 25%! Emailed to complain and told that, in general, Barclaycard are suffering because too many people are defaulting. Fair enough, but I have cleared my balance every month for ages and have an impeccable payment record! Told them to close my account immediately.
PS I'd asked for the limit increase because I am going on holiday and was prepared to borrow and pay some interest. Not now...

got a Barclay card when I was 18 to seperate company expenses from my finances, despite paying it off twice a month (once by Direct Debit and once by debit card because it had been used up) they wouldn't up my credit limit. After 2 years it when from £500 to £700...I tried to have it raised numerous times. I finally gave up and applied for a Morgan Stanley Card who gave me a 5K limit on day one
However impressed by the way Barclays checked to see that I was using the card when I had not used the card for some time. It is reassuring that they monitor the situation for potential irregularities.

International use

Visa International set the rate for international transactions. I was credited with full refund from a shop but recieved $126 less than I had spent from Barclaycard. They said it was the rate set by Visa International!!
