Have NEVER been able to redeem points for travel. Could not even get flight from Halifax to Montreal with 5 weeks advance booking. There must be untold millions of unclaimable points out there. Air Canada and CIBC should be investigated by Department of Justice with a view to laying charges of fraud. DO NOT PAY MONEY FOR THIS CARD. The sooner Air Canada folds up and disappears the sooner we will get decent air travel in Canada. Everyone who has been refused travel should make an issue of this with CIBC and Air Canada starting with this site.

Our return flight from Sydney Australia to Calgary was disrupted by the east coast power outage, the Vancouver-Calgary Aug, 15 portion was cancelled. We had phoned VISA prior to departure and ticket purchase to specifically confirm our GOLD card covered us for any unforseen travel interuption scenarios for specific examples: Air Canada bankruptcy or terrorist activity. Our VISA Customer service person assured us we were covered for up to $2000 of disruption expenses. Guess what folks, CIBC VISA renegged all covereage when the power outage grounded Air Canada's domestic flights. Buy your own travel insurance from a reputable licensed operator, VISA will tell you anything they wish to get you to use their product [they we're happy to increase our credit limit] then leave you high and dry when you need them to come through.

I had cancelled my card about two years ago. Recently I have booked a flight with Air Canada using aeroplan and I got the flight times and dates that I wanted with no problems. There was a slight wait on the phone, yet the service and booking of the flight was quite good. I am unsure why the previous entries had so much difficulty in booking flights. As for as black out periods go for booking flights, it does state that in info recieved with the card. I had no complaints and am actually considering reapplying for the card for all of the benefits it does offer. Not just aeropoints.

I just received a call from CIBC Aerogold offering a special incentitve pakage for being a loyal Aerogold member. I mentioned that this was the first ever offer that I had received from CIBC and suggested that it must be the result of the affiliation with Air Canada and Aerogold, and the impending demise of Air Canada. I offered that in the last 1-2 years,it is near impossible to book a flight with points through aerogold and that my yearly 'administration' fee was a waste of money and that any such offer by CIBC must be the result of dissatified customers!!! But no this is not the case. In fact, current and future Aerogold members, I was informed that this promotion was meant to HELP AIR CANADA! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!!! I'm paying $120/year to be enrolled in this CIBC Aerogold plan and I can't even redeem my points.....and now a CIBC representive is telling me that this is all meant to help Air Canada. I'LL BE CANCELLING MY CARD TOMMORROW and closing all me bank business with CIBC...IT'S PLAIN WHO CIBC VALUES AS A CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!!!!and its not you and me....I'll ne forwarding similar comments to CIBC directly, the Globe and Mail, Calgary Herald and The National Post....

air canada only has 7 to 9 aeroplan seats available on their larger 320 etc air craft. when your told their are no seats available that means only aeroplan seats. I now book almost a year down the road,in order to get a seat, them theres the black-out periods.I think air canada thinks, these eroplan miles hold no value, as they treat the holders quite baqdly. I collect 20,000+ miles/mth, and am not appreciated by aeroplan or air canada. I am shopping for a new travel plan card.Air canada should be chopped up and sold an d robert milton giventhe boot..C.I.B.C. CARD IS VERY GOOD . THEY SHOULD DUMP a/c AND GIVE OUT GENERAL AIR MILES

The CIBC Visa is a great card because it offers the ability to buy anything almost anywhere since Visa is accepted around the world. 24 hour call in service provides the flexibility to deal with customer service agents from anywhere at aytime. The best feature is with the Aerogold Visa since every purchase gets me that much closer to free flights through the Aeroplan program. Since I can link the card through my debit card, I can make payments via interac and save the price of postage - yet another benefit to the card. A lower interest rate would be about the only thing that could make the card any better.

great card but too high of an interest rate. I have traveled back to NF 3 years in a row with my husband with my points.

My CIBC AeroPlan Gold Visa allowed me to take my dream trip to Hawaii sooner than I expected.

Good card, comes as part of an all inclusive banking package. Travel Service is oriented at package travellers
