"I like mine!"
I have two of these cards. They were my first two credit cards. Never had any problems. I pay on time so no late fees. Only thing I don''t like is the first card has a high interest rate around 18% and the second has an interest rate of 6%. They won''t lower the 18% one even though I''ve never paid late *or* anything. It''s not an issue though because I don''t keep anything charged on that card since I have the other one. After you get the card in the mail if you pay on time for 3 months straight then they increase your credit limit. These cards are great for people with no *or* little credit. ONLY CHARGE WHAT YOU CAN PAY OFF.

"Raised interest rate"
I have had an account with Capital One for quite a long time with a low interest rate of 6.9%. Naturally I used this card all the time, never late on a payment, always paid double payments. Then got THE letter telling me that the rate was being increased to 11.9% due to rising costs. I thought it meant future charges would be subject to the increased rate, not the ones I had made thinking I had a low rate, not so. What a crock! I called customer service to get an explanation, took me 20 minutes to get to a real person, then when I explained the reason for the call, was told "Well thats what they did but didn't you see the part where you could opt out?". So of course, that's just what I opted to do, opt out. Closed that account. Makes me wonder how they can legally do that after you have used their card in good faith that the interest rate would remain the same as long as you made your payments on time. So Shame on you Capital One!!

"Just Try to Close The Account They'll keep Billing You"
I had the worst time getting Capital One to close my account, even after paying the full amount twice. A $.50 or $1 interest fee hit every month for three months. What's in my wallet? Not Capital One.

"Underhanded business practices."
I've been a customer with Capital 1 for approx 3 years. Because of my exceptional credit history, I was given a Platinum MC with a low 4.9 rate. My payment history is spotless with Capital 1 as well as all my other creditors/bills etc. In January I made a large purchase which ran my balance up to 11k (unusually high for me). While I had enough cash saved to pay the entire balance, I wanted to take advantage of the low rate and use the cash for something else profitable. The first week in March I received notice that my rate would double to 9.9. The justification they provided was "due to market changes..." I made the purchases expecting to pay a 4.9 rate, only to be shafted into a 9.9 rate. While 9.9 IS competitive, that's not what I signed up for. In the very same letter they were offering 5.9 for an unsecured personal loan. So why the raise? CLEARLY, they're tempting customers into debt and then raising the rates when they reach a point Capital 1 feels they can't pay off the balance. Where I'm from, we call that "loan sharking."

Most attractive feature: Online web services are reliable well designed.
Least attractive feature: Customer service is automated and frustrating. Terrible all around.
