"Horrible service"
Chase, instead of answering questions, likes to hang up on people instead. Stay far, far away from Chase Credit Cards. There are much better companies out there.

"limits and interest rate"
When Chase bought out my Washington Mutual with bailout money they incresed by interest rate by 7% and have decreased my credit limit by $5000.00. I have never been late on any payment to any company and always pay more than the minimum. I tried to resolve the problems and their response was they were business decisions and there was no one in the entire company who could restore my credit limit and the current interest rate was the lowest one available. This company does not care about their customers. Washington Mutual was always responive when I had a question, and they dropped my interest rate based on my credit history with them when asked.

"STAY AWAY"
MY WIFE AND MYSELF WERE WAMU CARD HOLDERS, WHICH WAS BOUGHT OUT BY CHASE. WE IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED A NOTICE OF CHANGE OF TERMS. I ALSO NOTED A JUMP IN RATES (DOUBLED) ON BOTH ACCOUNTS WITH THE FIRST BILL. I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO TRY AND NEGOTIATE A BETTER RATE, AND GOT THE FUNKY, RUDE RUN AROUND. TODAY, I RECEIVED LETTERS INFORMING US THAT BOTH ACCOUNTS HAVE BEEN CLOSED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY BOTH CARRY UNACCEPTABLE BALANCE RATIOS, AND OUR FICO SCORE (650-700) IS NOT HIGH ENOUGH. GOSH, IF ONLY I COULD GET THE GOVERNMENT TO BAIL MY BUTT OUT!

"BEWARE!!!"
After years of credit and paying on time they tried to trick me into missing a payment so they could raise my interest. I didn't fall for it so they raised my payment by $300 hoping I couldn't pay it so they could raise my interest to 24.9 percent. Then they lowered my limit stating it was decided by my credit report- my credit is perfect!! Customer service is rude and they PUNISH people who pay on time!!

"Chase - 20%?"
I found it very unfair for them to apply a 20% interest rate on one of my balances, once the promotional rate expired, since I always paid on time.

Most attractive feature: Large line of credit, and previously gave tons of promotional offers.
Least attractive feature: Applying 20% interest rate to one balance, when I have always paid on time.

"Interest raised to 30.99% for no reason"
I received this card at 0% for a year, then 8.99 percent through Bank One. CHASE bought them out. A couple months later, I got the "change of terms notice" stating they would be raising the standard interest to 30.99%, same as the default rate!! It went on to state that "these changes have nothing to do with your personal credit rating"-- in other words, they were doing it to everyone. This was sent out on a tiny notice, of course, that most people might miss. I canceled the card, but continued to pay at the previous terms.
One year later, I got the same notice again, even though the account was cancelled. However, CHASE continued to sign people up at 0% for a year, so clearly they were "baiting and switching" people as a standard operating procedure, enticing them into the card with 0-8.99% rates, then bumping them to 30.99% when they had a nice balance.
These are the same folks who helped finance the German war machine in World War II, and continued to do business with them EVEN AFTER they were AT WAR with the United States.
STAY AWAY FROM CHASE!
(It's your patriotic duty).

"Stay away from this company"
I have had this card for 11 years now (its has gone thru several banks)and believe it or not it makes no difference to Chase, on a recent trip overseas I purchased a phone card for my foreign cel phone and it was considered as a cash advance when there was no cash involved, of course that carries a 25% interest (note that I do that with AMEX all the time and never had any issues). I called customer service and after 45 minutes with customer service, dispute dept and even fraud dept, I was told by an unpolite person that even though this was a purchase, it is considered a cash advance and interest would be charged as such. The funny thing is even as I make large payments they get to "choose" what is applied to purchases and what goes to cash advance which means until you pay off the whole balance you WILL pay the higher interest.
I read several reviews on this card and the same applied to me, my interest rates have gone up every ,month for no apparent reason and I called to verify why, I received no plausible explanation and my rates were then reduced about 10%. There is obviously no respect to the consumer from chase, stay away if you ca. |

"Closed my account today!"
I orginially applied and was approved by 'First Card'. Good service, then it was bought out. Still I had no problems and continued with the card. Then Chase bought the company out. Today I received a statement with a $15.00 Late Fee and a $1.00 Finance Charge for a $39.99 purchase. My payment had been one day late. When I called customer service I found out that the time period allowed to make on time payments is 20 days. What happened to 30-45 days? And all the woman would say was 'this is a legitimate charge'. I disagree. Forget arbitration, out came the scissors. A cut card, a check for an amount I know to still be on the card and one nasty letter went out in the afternoon mail. Chase can eat their $16.00 charge. I can and will refuse any future statements or mailings from Chase.

"Avoid anything to do with Chase Bank"
With a good credit rating, they started increasing my interest rate by .25 every other month. When I called to find out why, I got nowhere. I was paying more than the minimum payment EVERY month and the only charge was one automatic charge every other month. Even though the balance had come down by thousands of dollars, they continued the increase. I closed the account just to freeze the interest rate. I did not choose this bank as I have found their policies not favorable in many years past - This bank bought a previous bank and therefore became my card holding bank in 1998. Why would any bank who WANTS a person to pay off their account increase the interest rate so that the payments are all interest? It makes no logical sense to me.

"How can we allow companies to do this to consumers"
Having had my card for 3 years at 7.99% APR, imagine my surprise to receive a notice from Chase that they are increasing my rate to 23.99%. I called Chase to be told that it followed a review of my credit report with Experian. I immediately went onto Experian and got my credit report and score, and there was nothing on my report and my score was 720. So I called Chase back to let them know this, and was told "great, good job, well done - now all you have to do is write a letter to Chase and plead your case, and fax it to this number." Wow, did not see that coming - Of course I am not going to plead anything with them. Never late, never carried more than 50% of available credit as a balance - so goodbye Chase. I don't expect for one moment that they care either.
