"Beware hidden charges"
Citi tacks on three months of periodic finance charges even if you are late one time by one day late payment. This adds up and is breathtakingly unethical. When called on it, the service person quips, "it's in the contract." Sure and that makes it OK.

Most attractive feature: 2% rebates
Least attractive feature: Hidden periodic finance charges are steep.

"Great if you pay in full"
The rewards program is actually kind of cool. Not only do you earn 3% on gas stations (which includes anything bought inside), drugstores, and grocery stores, you can enroll your car to earn cash off the miles you drive. When you're ready to buy a car, you submit a form and-voila!-you get a check. Can be dealer or private, new or used.

Most attractive feature: Rewards program (cash towards new car)
Least attractive feature: Ugly standard APR

"If you ever get your CC number stolen -- this card is not for you!!!"
I got the Citi platinum card because of the 2% reward toward the purchase of a new car. This is where the positive ends.
Citi changed the card agreement terms twice in 2 years, limiting how the reward can be used.
Their PLATINUM card carries higher interest then most other regular credit cards for customers in good credit standing.
Their fraud department is impossible - they have stopped my account numerous times - usually when I am away from home (out of the country). They do not provide local toll-free access numbers, and placing collect calls from some countries (Spain) can prove to be an impossible task.
When I reported fraud to them, instead of beginning the investigation immediatly, useless paperwork had to be mailed back and forth, with notary stamps attesting that I am who I say I am.
It took about 20 days for the investigation to actually begin -- any other card I have called before began the investigation the minute I called. NO TEMPORARY CREDIT WAS ISSUED!!! I was told "not to worry about it" -- it will be taken care of in 1-2 BILLING CYCLES (about 2 months!!!).
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST TREATMENT A CREDIT CARD CUSTOMER CAN EXPECT -- WHEN THE COMPANY DOES NOT BELIEVE ITS' OWN CLIENTS.

While speaking to the security investigations department, I was told to 'CALL OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY WILL ADDRESS ANY ISSUES YOU HAVE' - this is after I suggested they do things differently -- essentially, the rep told me to go to hell -- not even people working for the government with no incentive to be nice were ever as rude to me.

Stay away if you can -- go for Discover.

"2% cash back good, 1% cash back not so good"
The old card used to offer 2% cashback for a purchase/lease of new/used card, which is great. But why bother with a new one which offers only 1% for purchase and maintence of a new car(you'll need to submit your receipts to get cash back)... when you can get straight 1% cash back for all of your purchases?

Most attractive feature: 2% cash back if you still have the old card
Least attractive feature: need to submit paperwork(receipts) in order to get reimbursed

"Got a notice today that according to our contract they can increase rates"
I find it disgraceful that what ever the reason --you ran up your cards whatever--- as long as they are being paid on time how do you have the right to change a rate--advertised for the life of the loan

Most attractive feature: It appeared to be an upfront organization
Least attractive feature: changed rates and the support services doesn't know why---

"This is actually 2 cards"
There are two plans you can get. One is the Charter Member plan, which gives you 2% towards the purchase or lease of a new or used car, but the points expire in 3 years. The other is the Options plan, which gives you 1% toward any vehicle expense and the points expire in 5 years. There are other small differences as well.

I had the charter plan, which allowed me to rack up $750. Unfortunately, I didn't need to get a new car until exactly one month over 3 calendar years, and so I lost the first calendar year's rebates ($200), bringing me down to $550. Yet, I still came out ahead of a 1% card, which would have given me only $375.

The customer service is good. Once I was late in paying my bill, which caused me finance charges and a $25 late fee. I called them up and whined, and they waived my late fees and finance charges. (They said they can do this once per year. Maybe this is only possible if you have a good credit rating.) Also, you can pay on-line, though I haven't done that yet. You can have your photo and signature on the front of the card.

I had some problems at the beginning with the security feature, which causes your card to be denied if you make an unusual purchase. I had my card denied a few times at establishments near where I live, such as restaurants. But maybe they've fixed this problem now, because I haven't had any problems in years. Or maybe, they've just figured out my spending patterns.

One tip is to activate the card near the beginning of the year, because your points don't expire until 3 full calendar years. So, actually, you can accrue points over almost 4 years.

Most attractive feature: 2% rebate if points used in 3 years
Least attractive feature: rebate expires after 3 years

"Overall, great card"
I've had Citibank for 11 years and had the Drivers edge Visa/Mastercard for over 5 years. Service has always been outstanding everytime I called. I always pay the balance in full every month, so I don't know if the interest rate is competitive or not. I like the idea that I can use the rebates for car maintenance or repair...so my rebate balance acts as an emergency account. I charge everything to the card to build up the rebate account. When problems arise, I get them resolved quickly. Customer service is always been helpful and friendly.

Most attractive feature: Excellent web site, you can use rebates for repair and maintenance of cars.
Least attractive feature: Rebates expire after 3 years, but you can use rebates for car maintenance and repairs.

"Citi Driver's Edge Visa is a great card!"
I have had this card since 1995. It used to offer 2% rebate on the purchase of a car. I bought a used car 2 years ago and got $400 from Citibank just by sending in my sales receipt. Now they offer cash rebates in addition. I have never had a problem contesting charges and have never been misbilled. A great card!

"Citibank Driver's Edge Mastercard is a great card!"
I have had this card for several years and pay the full amount monthly. I bought a used car about 2 years ago and got $400 from Citibank just by sending in my sales receipt. Now they offer cash rebates at 2% of most purchases. I don't know of any other card that offers this high a rebate on most purchases. Also, the card has no yearly fee.

"Late charges"
I have had a problem with this card getting payments that get posted on time. If I authorize payment a day before due date it should be considered an on time payment. It dosen't and I get late charged.

Most attractive feature: a lot of extras if you can afford it
Least attractive feature: Inability to post payments on time that are made on time
