"stay away"
This was my first credit card when I became of age to partake in credit joys. I just admit I went a little bit overboard with use, but I only had one 30 day late during my 2 year history with them (not to mention default apr is 30%!!). Well, when I lost my wallet I called customer service. They said 'no problem we will send you a new one.' Okay great. Now I ask, since I had a payment due to be posted on this account if that would be suspended. I was told it would be. So I proceed to issue a payment on my new card. Well, as fate has it, they debited my account for both payments, the one that was supposed to have been cancelled and the new one. So 800 dollars gone from my account and an overdraft fee because of citi - awesome! Well honestly I wouldn't have been so upset if when I had called customer service they responded politely and apologetically. Instead the customer rep accused me of lying and claimed that because I still had a balance they were owed money. Since I was young and impressional I cried on the phone because the woman was yelling at me. Paid off and closed account soon after. Worst customer service in my entire life...go with anyone else.

"1hr Late Fee"
My spouse and I have been with Citi for over two years. This month I made the payment online through Citi's website but I missed the cutoff by an hour. This was the only time we have ever been "late" making the payment cutoff. Because I missed the 1pm cutoff, we were accessed a $39 late fee even though the payment was made the same day. I called Customer Service and was told the fee would not be reversed as we missed the deadline. My spouse and I have decided to balance transfer to Wells Fargo which offered a higher credit line, lower APR and more reasonable late fee costs if I miss the deadline again.

"Decent card"
I have had this card for a few months now. The card is pretty good, no complaints. I don't really carry a balance so interest rate isn't a big issue with me. Customer assistance has been decent, nothing negative to report.
All in all it is a good card with a reputable company. Can't go wrong with that! |

"Stay Away - Read >>"
Citibank extended this card to me with an attractive balance transfer rate and a $1,000 limit. I have made every payment on time, yet my interest rate suddenly jumped to nearly 28%. Upon inquiry, they say they can raise your rate if you have a delinquency with ANY OTHER creditor. As I had no delinquency with any other creditor, I was confused. Apparently, a collection account has appeared on my credit report for an account that cannot be mine, as the creditor was paid off over six months ago. I will dispute this, but meanwhile, this month, Citibank’s interest rate on my card is now 29%+ - nearly 30%!!! Also understand that this same thing could happen to you if you were ONE day late with your payment. It infuriates me that I have carefully made all payments to them on time, yet they used unsubstantiated information having absolutely nothing to do with them to jump at the chance to raise my rate to 30%. They offered to close my account and charge 10% interest to pay it off, but they will never lower the rate if they reopen it after it is paid off. Do not fall for this trap with this company. My recommendation: Clout.com

"Citibank is a hassle"
I'm not sure if it's the databases and computer stuff that they have problems with or the customer service representatives, but everytime I call to change something on the account, it will be applied that month, and then it will go back to the way it was or something. I was overseas with the Army for a year, and my grandma had my Power of Attorney, and it seemed like every month she would have to call and tell them I was overseas. They never did get it right. I finally got it straightened out after I got back, but I shouldn't have had to go through the hassle of copying and faxing things to random citibank people. I call once, and they give me a fax to send the complaint to, I call a second time, and the guy can only give me an address? Don't they all have the same information and training. I kind of feel back for the Cust Svc people, coz it seems like citibank has infrastructure problems. The customer suffers. Stay away!

"Citi(R) Platinum Select Mastercard = Perfect Student Card"
The Citi(R) Platinum Select Mastercard comes with alot more than meets the eye. Its benefits package is pretty robust considering that it's a student card. Roadside Assistance, Auto Rental Insurance, Purchase Extended Warranty, and the Photo Feature are all common but useful features of the card. The APR for both purchases and balance transfers at 9.90% were very competitive considering that it's a student card. The initial credit line of $1,300 was beyond the norm and customer service has always been exceptionally positive. However, one drawback is the limited account access on the Citi(R)website. Unless you enroll in online statement only, you cannot view statements past the current month. All in all, the Citi(R) Platinum Mastercard for Students packs alot of horsepower at an exceptionally cut-rate APR. I would wholeheartedly recommend this card to any student, as the approval process is streamlined and extremely lenient for students.

"Great college credit card"
I opened this account in September of '02 right after starting college, and was approved for a $500 credit line. The interest is about average for college students (13.9%), as a matter of fact it's pretty good compared to some others like Discover for students which has a 17.8% rate. I have been good with this card, never missed a payment and never gone over the limit, and in return they have given me 3 credit line increases. $500-$1,200-$1,800-$3,200 which I am currently at. I have the photocard which is good but I look like I'm dead in the picture. I don't know how they scan the photo you send in, but they did a bad job with mine. They have been good to me, and I do recommend this card to college students looking for a good credit card to start building their credit history.

"Good Card For students"
This is a great card for students with no credit because anyone with no or good credit can get one. Not sure about students with bad credit. The only bad part of the card is they usually give a very low credit limit to people with no credit. Depending on how you look at it this could also be a good thing because it prevents you from spending too much money. I would recomend this card to anyone, I use it frequently and you can use the online bill paying service to pay it off with ease.

"No benefits, but good to start with"
The Citi Platinum Select Mastercard for students is a good credit card to start with. Everyone I know who has applied for one has gotten one. When I signed up though, they said they would send me coupons for discounted American Airlines flights; I have never seen those. I may have missed some intricate process I was supposed to do to get them, but I never saw them. It is good to start with though and build your credit rating with. You start at $500 limit usually and then get it bumped up easily online (if the website is working, its often very slow).

I have been with them from sep 2000 and havent had any problems. They give u credit line increases every 6 months if u are doing fine. The Cus service is good. The general apr is abt 14-15% which is kind of high, but they give good balance transfer offers. So its Ok
