Citibusiness-Not unless you like frustrations
05/09/2011
I would not recommend this card to anyone. The last two times that I tried to use my citibusiness card, yesterday and today, the charges were not accepted by citibank. It was very embarrassing. I do not understand why the charges should be refused. I am not over the credit limit. I am at ~$550, and the credit limit is $1000. This by the way is another source of my frustration. It is a business card and they gave me a $1000 credit limit. What a joke. I have two other citibank cards with 25K and 30K limits. I asked them to raise the limit, and they refused. I have not had a credit glitch in my whole life (>30 years of credit record).
Their customer service is also terrible. I tried calling citibusiness to explain my situation with refusal of charges. I was on hold, purportedly because of "high call volumes", for over 10 minutes. Then when someone answered, she kept saying I cannot hear you...hello can you speak louder or call back. I could hear her just fine. I think this was just a way to avoid a customer.
I have found citibusiness card to be one of the worst cards that I have ever had. I would discourage anyone from getting one of these, unless you have no other source of credit.

Avoid Citicorp Cards at all cost, especially gas, and dept store cards

The customer service is so unflexable they posted a charge mistake payed on the 30th day as late on my credit report...Get this for 11.35. Yes less than 12.00. These guys will screw up your credit report for any reason to jack up the rates. The worst issue I have is I cancled the card 2 months in advace of the late fee, I closed the card and the company let automatic charges be posted to a closed card. Then screwed me to the wall for 12 bucks. I had a credit rating of 750 before this.

Filed complaint with NC Attorney General
03/14/2006
My complaint is based on the time I have wasted fixing errors to the new business credit card I opened with CitiBusiness.
I have maintained a personal credit card with Citibank USA for many years. I could not be more pleased with a credit card company. My credit is perfect since I pay the balance owed on the card each month.
I incorporated a new business on January 1, 2006 and thus requested a business account with Citibank on/about December 15, 2005. Citibank transferred me to CitiBusiness, and it all went downhill from there. The young man who took my order that day was at least partly responsible for the many problems I've had with the card, but I can't rule out technical problems with the process in which he followed to open the business account. Errors which have wasted my time follows:
1. The name entered on the account was too long to fit on the credit card, thus the first card I received showed only part of my last name.
2. I requested a business credit card which offered an "automatic payment" option. My personal credit card contains such an option so that in my busy career, I don't overlook a payment. I have never missed a payment with Citibank. As it turns out, the CitiBusiness credit card does not have an automatic payment option. Thus, I must write a check each month or go online to make the payment. Subsequent efforts to obtain auto payment have not been successful; "we don't offer such an option on our business accounts".
3. The order taker offered a 20,000 Frequent Flyer Mile bonus if I signed up. I accepted the bonus and provided my American Airlines FF account. The number I provided did not make it into their system, and thus 20K miles was sent to an unknown number. I wasted more time calling American Advantage to inquire if they received the miles, then calling CitiBusiness to find out what happened, only to learn they gave me a new FF number, then calling back AA to transfer the miles. THEN, the back-breaker was in calling CitiBusiness back to have them change my FF number to the one I originally gave them only to have a young lady from CitiBusiness tell me that "only American Advantage can change the number in the CitiBusiness account". I asked for a supervisor who said they must have a letter from American to change the number. I informed her I was filing a complaint against CitiBusiness with the Attorney General of North Carolina for "shoddy customer support" and she immediately changed my FF number to the one I gave the original order taker.
4. I requested a $20,000 credit limit on this business card. My limit for years on my Citibank personal card has been over $25,000. I was surprised to find a $5,000 credit limit on my new Business card. I wasted additional time calling to determine why the balance was so low and was informed I had to have "three months of payment history on this account". I told her I frequently charge over $5,000 in a month and asked the lady if she had access to my credit report and to the financial reports provided by CitiBank. She checked and stated she would start the process to have my credit limit increased to $20,000. I will know in five business days if approved.
Had I known the level of inconvenience and wasted time I would experience with CitiBusiness, I would have steered clear of this organization. I calculate I have spent five hours over the past three months calling CitiBusiness and working to get this account "fixed". I cannot gage the impact my anger concerning this matter has had on my health. I try to operate with a level head and not get emotional, but I have suppressed anger and discontent with CitiBusiness, and I suspect have done nothing good for my health.

poor service

This card is not a revolving credit. You may make a payment within days of a purchase and the cardholder that made the purchase is not able to use the card again until the next billing cycle. Customer service very, very poor. Very frustrated with this card.

Questionable rate changes and incalculable statements
06/20/2004
Two negatives about this card: the Nominal APR rate can fluctuate wildly according to new rules from the issuer, no matter what your credit rating or payment history with the issuer is. The other problem is that the monthly statements do not disclose as much information as needed: the statement totals charges, but does not give specific totals for purchases and cash advances, even though Nominal APR rates change for each. The only way to calculate totals for items with different nominal APRs is to call the issuer's customer service number.

Citigroup platinum select , they are fraudulant!
04/28/2004
After being a citigroup mastercard holder for several years and having paid all of my monthly payments on time, Citigroup put me into default status and charged me an interest rate of 27.99%.I had been paying 3.9%, so you can imagine my suprise when I opened my statement. They said there was a negative report on my Equifax credit report so I called Equifax and got my credit report. As I suspected, all of my accounts were paid up to date and there were no late or missed payments. I think Citigroup is being spiteful because I cancelled my "Credit Protector" insurance before they could bill it to my account.I would strongly recommend that nobody does any kind of business with any Citigroup or Citibank company.
Most Attractive Feature: low initial interest rate
Least Attractive Feature: Citicorp will put your card into default for no apparent reason

Member since 1989 and time to leave
02/22/2004
I have had a Citibank card since 1989, as indicated on this card. I pay on time and usually in full. This is the only credit card I have except my debit card at credit union. I don't like to shop credit cards, but during this time they have repeatedly done thier best to piss me off and I have reached my limit.
Here's a taste of Citibank customert service. First, a few years ago they decided it would be in "my best interest" if they switched me from Visa to Mastercard. They canceled Visa and sent me a new Mastercard without my autorization. They always jack rates through the roof without telling you. Then you have to constantly call and complain before they lower the rates. Again, thankfully I usually pay in full. Recently, when I received notice of a 43% increase in property taxes. Citibank reps asked if I'd like a 6mo no interest "transfer" for it. I said ok if you can make sure it arrives before Dec 31. They promised, but it did not arrive until the enod fo the first week of Jan. It was actually "processed" on the Dec 29th, the day they said I would receive the check!! I called and they said get a cash advance, no fees etc. Liars, my bill came with a nice $30 fee. I am also sick of WEEKLY mailings wanting me to transfer balances even though I called repeatedly and told them I don't have any other balances. My member since 1989 is going to end as soon as I can decide what card to replace it with.
Most Attractive Feature: You can reach customer service quickly, local branches
Least Attractive Feature: They do NOT do what they say, change cards and rates at will

Worst card ever
05/31/2003
I currently have 6 credit cards and this card is by far the worst one. They lost a payment that I sent to them and they quickly notified the credit bureas even though they assured me that it was their fault and would take care of the matter internally. In addition they charged me a late fee. I have since cancelled this card
