"miles hard to redeem"
I FIND CONTINENTAL MILES HARD TO USE. THE SITE OFTEN OFFERS A TRIP BUT ONLY IF YOU USE THE OPTION OF SPENDING DOUBLE THE MILES. ON AA YOU CAN CALL 300 DAYS OUT AND MOST OFTEN GET A TRIP BUT CONTINENTAL IS NOT SO SIMPLE.

Most attractive feature: none
Least attractive feature: very hard to redeem miles- they offer too often the more miles option

"Card good/customer service bad"
I first received this card a year ago. Long story short, I maxed out my card by charging my tuition, they charged me the annual fee in the same month I maxed out my card and charged me a late fee. Took me half an hour, a cs rep, and two supervisors to get rid of the fee because even though they claim they tell you in the literature when the annual fee is going to be charged, it doesn't say anywhere (I had kept all the literature sent to me). Second problem, I paid the card off one month through a Chase bank branch. Card claimed they never got the payment. I sent a copy of the receipt they had given me at the branch: no good. I sent a copy of the cancelled check. Overall, took 4 months to clear up a problem that should never have occurred in the first place. My advice, never pay through a Chase branch, annual fee is charged in the second month you get the card (I think). Miles or no miles, I will be giving up this card in this next year.

Ads indicate dollar/dollar reward even for second card (quoted in flyer included with monthly bill). Continental Airlines contacted. Told that no fee Platinum Mastercard awards 1/2 mileage for each dollar charged. In compliance with their request, information included in the credit card package(indicating dollar/dollar award) transmitted via FAX To date, no response received.

"Late Fees"
I had just begun with this credit acrd and my first payment was misplaced making it late. There was no lee way on waiving a new customers late fee even though neither party could determine whose fault is was for the late payment. This does not represent yourselves as good business practice when you can't work with new customers. Your statement to me was if and when you (the customer) can prove yourself to us (you as the cardholder) then we'll work on waiving fees. This was my first month into a new program that I myself was not too familiar with and besides I thought I was doing you the favor by giving you my business. I've stayed with this card regardless of my intitial threat to move on to someone else who can appreciate me as their customer but I do keep my eye open for a better opportunity and will cancel if one does come; unless I someday I might receive some sort of apology or recognition on your part that it was insensitive. You shouldn't be so proned to closing your doors on new customers just bc they haven't established a relationship yet with you. Give your new customers a chance.
Also, is there some sort of online where the customer can view their account and pay their bill? And what's with charging the customer a fee for paying their bill over the phone when you're getting your the payment faster than you would if it were mailed? Most company's (American Express, Discover) have this feature. Are you going to update your system to stay competitive? |

"Getting more airline miles"
I have been really pleased with the chase continental card. I use mine whenever possible and pay it off at the end of the month. Doing this you can really rack up the miles, just living as you normally do. I buy groceries, gas, car maintenence etc. This year I am going to Belize on an award ticket that I got usuing mainly the miles gained from credit card purchases.

"No help in hardships"
I have gone through unemployment and am unable to make a payment. Chase Visa says "TOO BAD".
They will allow it to go delinquent, call it so on my credit report, and cancel my account, even
though I have asked for help. They say there is nothing they can do for me. |
