""BAD" card for bad credit"
I had been a customer of CCB. I had TWO of their cards, so you can imagine the fees I was hit with every month. This is THE most horrible card you can ever think of having.. They hit you with application fees, processing fees, telephone fees to check your balance or payment posted, they hit you with high annual fees and even fees of 50-100 dollars to increase your limit (should you be so fortunate) My credit score dropped significantly due to my having this card. I was drowning in the unmanageable and ever growing debt with this company. Not only did they rob me blind, but they harassed me in the process. They called my home ALL day, and even late at night. They called my job CONSTANTLY. They would give my "overlimit" status to who ever picked up the phone. I have finally gotten away with them. I would not recommend these people to ANYONE, especially not someone in a delicate credit situation. I now have capital one cards and a card from Houselhold bank, and I couldn't be more thrilled.

"You can get back at CCB."
As the previous reviewer said, the company is in *major* trouble and things only continue to get worse. The "customer" service center located in Boca Raton, FL has only about 600 employees now, down from around 2000 over the last 18 months. The FDIC's cease-and-desist order will be two years old on May 15th and they thought it would have been lifted by now.
Be a thorn in their side, write complaints to the FDIC and your state's attorney general. Start or join a class action lawsuit. Let your voice be heard.
Advise everyone you know to avoid CCB. Nobody needs to have collectors calling every day several times a day. Nobody needs their credit record made worse by a credit card. |

"Cross Country Bank Silver Preferred "
This company has to be in trouble. Fee's for everything - Participation Fee - $6.00, Fee to call them with a question - .50 cents. Fee to make internet payment - $6.75!! Fee's on top of Fee's. High interest rates. NOT worth it. Don't even apply...you'll be sorry!! I am finally in a position to transfer my balance out of there.

"Pleasantly Shocked at Cross Country Bank/ Customer Service"
I've had the card f/ 4 years, and I was not too impressed with it. In the past, I had called customer service about various issues and was told X-Country didn't offer accomodations or considerations for customers.
HOWEVER-times have changed. My husband was in a catastrophic accident (2 months after I had our second baby)and was totally disabled. I have gone back and forth with my creditors until I was seeing double. Cross Country Bank was the first to give me special consideration for my situation, and we negotiated a payment plan that I could work with. Their agent got my monthly payments $30.00 lower than any of their programs offered. They also dropped the delinquent fees imposed on my account since my husbands accident and lowered my APR by 5.25%. Their agents were very thorough, patient and always followed up. This was VERY contrary to what I experienced at CITIBANK with my platinum MC. |

"Cards should automatically be cancelled when over the limit."
My account balance exceeded the limit when a payment was late and in the small print crediting the payment to the card along with an over the limit charge. Now you would think that the card would be cancelled since it had reached the maximum amount allowed to be charged. However the following month when I was unable to financially meet my required payments, which by the way I highly suggest to everyone to take out the insurance these credit cards offer in case of unemployment or injury. Anyway what I don't understand is now over a year later my limit of $1,000 credit has gone to a maximum of over $3,000 due. I also received notice that my annual fee will be billed on next month's statement. And that I only could avoid the fee by writing to terminate the account. Shouldn't the company automatically cancel the card holder knowing they will not be utilizing the card any time soon until the debt is paid off. The variable of my apr also went up from the original what I thought ok of an APR for a first timer of 19% to an incredible 29.99. New Credit Card seekers beware. It is the easy credit cards that really stick it to us as a first time user. Realize that if you only make the minimum payment amount due that after using the amount and making payments on time, sure they will give you more credit only to forever pay the interest, oh yes I forgot to tell you that because the charge to the card for the payment of the credit is considered a cash withdraw another fee is added to already overdue, over the limit credit card. Finally they have sent it to a collection agency and it is on my TRW. The last time I used the card was in the year 2001. My bill every month has been getting charged $72.98 to itself for participation fees, finance charges, overlimit fees, later fees, and a cash advance fee because I was unable to write and send a letter while incarcerated, yes I went to jail and now automatically my credit card was going out on the town.

"CHARGES PRACTICES"
THEY DESERVE TO BE OUT OF BUSINESS:
FIRST OFF MY PAYMENTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MADE.
THIS PAST MONTH THEY CLOSED MY ACCOUNT AFTER GIVING ME A ONE HUNDRED AND
TWENTY FIVE DOLLAR INCREASE. NO IN CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN EXPLAIN WHY BUT
THAT IF I WANTED TO OPEN IT AGAIN IT WOULD COST $50.OO.
THEY ALSO ADDED A $6.OO A MONTH PARTICIPATION FEE BECAUSE THE ACCOUNT WAS OVER $1000 DOLLARS. THIS ALL HAVING NOT REQUEST EITHER THE INCREASE NOR THE ACCOUNT TO BE CLOSED. YOU WONDER WHY THEY ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE WITH PRACTICES LIKE THIS? I TO WILL BE WRITING MY ATTORNEY GENERAL AND ANY OTHER LEGAL AUTHORITY. |

"Cross Country - don't let it cross your mind to get this card!"
I've had Cross Country for about 5 years or so now. They were very good to me in the beginning. They gave me regular increases, their customer service was friendly, even though you had to call long distance. I knew about the fees they were charging ( they are in the original terms of the account - so these fees everyone complains about should not complain too much about them, although the new participation fee they started implementing is a little more than annoying). Now the interest rate is through the roof, I never can get another increase ever on this account according to the CSR I s/w. She said " I am at the highest credit limit possible - $2850." I asked her if this was actually true because she didn't have to lie to me - if I didn't qualify for one, I can take it like a man, but no she actually said that I had the highest credit limit for the Silver Preferred Card. I find it highly difficult to believe that $2850 is the highest rate available. My credit is actually much better now than what it was when I got this card, but nevermind that - CCB doesn't care. To top everything off, I got calls from CCB this past Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday on my voice mail while I was out asking me to call them back. Turns out they were concerned with my Overlimit status. I was a whopping $14 over my limit due to all their fees. To call me 3 consecutive business days for $14 when my payment was due 3 days later and was going to be paid anyways is RIDICULOUS! I'm quite happy about the rumors of their demise. I hope their CEO's lose their jobs and find out when their credit gets shot how fun it will be to get a card like CCB.

"What comes around, goes around."
Although it is not exactly earth shattering we must allow the various state lawsuits from NY, MN, and NH to work their way through the legal system. I hope and believe they will be successful.
It turns out that CCB and ACS's bad behaviour is well documented and well known. This is a link to the FDIC's cease & desist order: http://www.fdic.gov/bank/individual/enforcement/11932.html The audit was completed just a few weeks ago and now we are waiting on the outcome which should be very bad for the bank.
I expect by year end Cross Country Bank & Applied Card Systems will either be shut down or plans will be made but not announced to relocate all operations to PA in the final downsize.

"Cross Country Bank - preferred Visa, the worst Credit card"
To those who are re-establishing their credit, do not apply for this card. Shop elswhere. You can do better. My account with CCB has always in good standing, but I can't wait until I pay them off. Their interest rate is outrageous, even for those who have had credit problems. They even charge you a fee to check your balance on the internet or by phone. I never was crazy about the card, but the last straw was when they recently started charging monthly participation fees of $6.00 for cardholders who owe $1,000 or more. I cut that card up. I will just continue to pay until paid in full. With CCB, you might as well be paying the mafia.
