Do NOT get this card

09/15/2009
I opened a Dillard's AMX account and was approved for a 2500 limit. I set up my account to pay online every month. After April 2009, all of my payments were being returned...which no one told me about until JUNE! One of the customer service reps told me that there was a problem with my bank account information. I checked my info which was correct. She told me the last 4 digits of the account number and I told her that they were not correct. I called on Monday and explained the situation to a very hateful service rep. She said they would take off the late fees, the returned check charges and the balance overage charges if I got a letter from my bank stating that they had never received a request for payment. I did that, faxed it, and am still waiting for them to correct the $457 dollars in charges! No one wants to help or listen, and they turned my account over to collections. I filed a complaint with the BBB but they will not respond to them. I am open for ideas as to how to fix this mess they are making of my credit and my life!

I believe I was scammed!

10/25/2006
I owed Dillards a total of $50.29 as of 6/29/06 after I hade sent them a check for $50 on the same day. For some reason since 1982 the next statement, reflecting the balance of $50.29 never reached my home. Then yesterday, 10/24/06, I received a collection letter from a company called "Encore Receivable Management Inc." - my account had been referred to them for collections and they were demanding $115. I first called Dillards customer service and received no satisfaction - the young lady couldn't even tell me if she had received my last check. I then called the collection agency and was told they were owned by Dillard but who knows. Another phone call to Dillards did produce some results and this time they were able to, at least, tell me the amount I had owned before it was turned over to collections and he did verify they had received the last payment I sent on 6/29/06. I will state that the gentleman at Dillards did remove the charges and I have just sent them a check for the original balance of $50.29. Now - you may or may not find this strange - but - sitting at my table when I opened up the mail yesterday was a dear friend visiting from Florida and she starting laughing and said the exact same thing had happened to her and several other ladies in her neighborhood. I find it very strange that the address Dillards had been sending their statements to since 1982 was not received by me - and - I find it even stranger that the same address that Dillards had given to the collection agency somehow found me immediately. I assure you ladies and gentlemen that I am not of the age group that does not pay their bills and this whole experience of being turned over to a collection agency was very upsetting. The situation was handled to my satisfaction - but - I will never shop at Dillards again.

Customer Service is Horrible!

01/28/2006
In July 05 I opened a Dillards accound. Started with a $2000 limit and after 4 months it was increased to $10,000. I took advantage of the club option for some large purchases, so I was issued an Elite card. When my card arrived there was someone elses card in the envelope as well. I called customer service to report this and was told to shred the card. The CSR could barely speek english. Two days later the account was closed for fraud. I called in and the rep mis-understood what I said about the other persons card. The fraud department straightened it out and I was issued a new account #. This was the beginning of Jan 06. My statement date is the 10th of each month and the bill is due by the 5th of the following month. I get my statement this month with a $35 late fee. My Dec statment showed a $3780 balance, which $3000 was on the club option. So my minimum payment was $272, $250 for the club option and $22 for the reg revolving. On December 27th I made a $750 payment in store which it showed on my statement. So again I call customer service, was told it was an error and would be corrected. It is Jan 28th and the late fee is still on my account. I love shopping at Dillards, but the customer service at GEMB is HORRIBLE. As an Elite member I'm supposed to get priority customer service, but I'd like to know where its at. I also lost about 2000 reward points that I still havn't received certificates for.

Dillards Credit Card/GECCCC

02/17/2005
I applied for a Dillards card in March of 1993, I was approved for a $900 limit. It was my second credit card, my firt being Chase Mastercard. I was excited that they gave me credit. I eventually was increased to a $3,500 limit, which at times I maxed out and paid off. By 2001, I had perfect credit score, 812. I was only paying 5% interest on my mortgage. My credit was Excellent. Due to an accident in December of 2001, I became un-employed and had a hell of a time to get my benefits for pay. I let go of all my cards, I figured they could wait. 13 out of 14 did wait, and helped me get back on track by waving fees and everything they could do. NOT DILLARDS!! Oh no, they wanted me to send them $2,000 immediately. They harrased me everyday. In the end, they lost, I offered to settle with them for $1,600 and they said no. I changed my phone number, and any letters I got from them were returned to sender. They charge off my account in August of 2002 in the amount $2,892.....Oh well, I tried.

Dillards Credit Account

03/18/2004
I had got this card in 1998 when I turned 18. Like many 18 year olds I was ready to use up all my credit. Being at a Ivy League University I was prone to purchase extremely expensive clothes. Dillards Credit gave me a starting limit of $990. I immediately maxed this piece of plastic out. My interest rate at the time was 24.99% As a usual "unwise" kid in the credit world I fell into lots of debt in a 6 month period. I missed one payment on my Dillards and they immediately turned me over to collections where I was forced into making a payment. I did. I then fell behind 3 months on my Dillards card. I got calls everyday and certified letters everyday stating that if I didnt pay my credit was gonna be shot to grace. The fourth month after harrasing calls and letters, I got a final bill before being sold to a collection agency. I decided to give Dillards a call. It was around income tax time and I was hoping I could settle with them. After talking to a collection manager, I was told that they could settle my account for $675.00 and be in good standing. I sent Dilards a money order for $700.00 yup threw in an extra $25.00 for the favor in settling my account.

Great Opportunities with this Card

01/17/2004
Contrary to the previous review, I have had a great experience with Dillard's Credit. To my knowledge, there is no "gold" or "platinum" status with the Dillard's charge card. However, there is a tiered status breakdown of regular, VIP, and Elite. We currently hold the elite card, and could not be happier. You must spend a minimum in the store on your card to retain the status, but the benefits of the card are well worth it if you are a Dillard's shopper. Check this one out. Make sure you're a "convenience" user such as myself or you'll get stuck paying higher interest rates than non-department store cards.

Luisa & Lorraine

01/01/2004
In Feburary of 2001, myself and my daughter (Lorraine) obtained this credit card. We always shop at Dillards so decided to open a joint account. Dillards immediately issued us a -GOLD STATUS- card at a $10,000.00 credit limit. We recieved our cards in the mail about a week later. We decided to make several purchases on our credit cards and ended up maxing them out. :( 3 months later we were paying huge bills to Dillards $136.00 were our minimum payments. Not Complaining, but it wasnt easy. In June of 2001, my daughter suffered a messy divorce and cut here income 75%. I am on a fixed income and can only make certain payments. I had no choice to pay Dillards the full amount of $136.00 every month...I was sacraficing but had to i did not need bad credit. In December of 2001, I used my card and charged a $78.19 purchase. In Janurary of 2002, I get a bill from Dillards $152.50 is my minimum payment. I screamed and called customer service, my daughter apparently charged $800.00 to the account and guess what? She had no money to pay. I only sent dillards $140.00, it was all I could send well then in Feburary of 2002 my minimum due was $190.00 it included a past du balance of $12.50 and a late fee of $25.00. Well to bad cause this time I still sent $150.00. In March my bill was $217.50 I called Dillards and asked to be put on a payments plan and to close the account. I was told I had to pay $217.50 to get my account to go into payment plan. I decided to get a lawyer on them, and believe me they waived $217.50 and got me on a payment plan. My remaining balance in May of 2002 my remaining balance was $7,723.65 I sent them $35.00 and they didnt say a thing! HAHA I guess I'll be paying this bill for the resty of my life (I'm 76) My daughter has decided to send them an extra $50.00....to my surprise she has been doing that it is now Janurary 2004 and my balance is $5,853.65 pretty good. I got a letter in the mail today from Dillards saying how since I have now been paying them very well, they have udated me to a Platinum satus and increased my limit to $15,000.00 I decided to trash this!! So if you can be sure to pay a high bill the Dillards charge account is Pretty good
