"Online access taken away"
Got this card going into college. Started to use it exclusively for my purchases, never went over my limit, always paid off my balance in full on a monthly basis, and built up a pretty good credit history. I was vigilant about protecting my account to make sure there were no false charges, so I would check my online statement almost on a daily basis to double check that the charges were correct. I used the card for years without any problems.
Then, late summer 2009, I noticed a $300 hotel charge on my online statement that I did not make. I immediately phoned the company to report the charge, and they were happy to take it off after I filled out an affidavit. They also sent me a new card ($10 charge). Then they did something that I just can’t understand: they took my online account access away.
They said they removed my online access to protect my account’s security. BUT IF IT WEREN’T FOR THE ONLINE ACCOUNT, I WOULD NOT HAVE FOUND THE FALSE $300 CHARGE UNTIL A MONTH LATER WHEN MY PAPER STATEMENT CAME. I called the company to ask for my online access to be re-instated but they refused – it would be gone for 90 to 120 days. So for the last 4 months, I’ve had no visibility to my account charges and no idea if there were any false charges until I get my paper statement, at which point I would be liable for paying the false charges until they could be removed at a later point. The only alternative was to call their automated system and listen to the last 10 charges, but that is both cumbersome and time-consuming. They say they took my online account access away for security reasons, but my online access was the best way I could protect my account! Needless to say, I no longer use this card (except for a once-a-month recurring charge so that I can keep the account open) and have switched to another company.

"Don't do business with this company."
This card started as a student credit card with no interest for me, yet somehow rates shot up past 25%. Not knowing this, I got charged overage fees, and within the first day of this overage got EIGHT phone calls while i was at work. I also, somehow, got charged for a payment that I did not make.
I have other credit cards now, and regret ever having opened an account. |

"Sleazy company"
Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT get a credit card with this company. The first reviewer is correct in saying that they prey on the young or people with no credit history. I was one of them. My first rates were low, then after a year they started steadily climbing. Now I am at 24.9%. Yeah, that's right. 25%. It should be illegal for a credit card company to hike the rates up that high. I make regular payments, too, on time...and always more than required of me.
A friend also has a card with them and his rates have shot up to 30%.
Do not support this company. They are using people and preying on those who have no money in a time of economic recession.
If you do have a card with them, I suggest two things:
1. Go to your *local* (not national) bank or credit union and do a balance transfer.
2. Get a second job and pay it off as quickly as possible.
I'm working a second job just to be rid of this card...and company. Oh, and tip your waitress...we make $2.13 an hour. |

"Good Starter Card"
This was my first card. My limit has gone from $250 to $15000 during the approximately 5 years I have had it. I mostly use it for big expenses like plane tickets and always pay it off at the end of the month. I was frustrated recently when after calling ahead my card was locked on my trip to Europe for security reasons. I also would like to be able to have a longer history available online. Otherwise it has been a good card. My credit has gotten off to a good start.

"If you like to pay fees, get this card!"
I have been with this credit card company for close to 5 years now. I was in a car accident 2 years ago and lost my job. I put a lot of my bills on this card. I recently went over my limit due to late fees and over limit fees. I should not have any late fees because my payments are automatically withdrawn from my bank account on the 30th or 31st of each month and the bill is not due until a week later. My minimum payment increased and my auto payment was not changed, therefore they charged me late fees which led to other fees. I am willing to pay off the entire balance but they would not take those fees off. Not only did the fees increase my limit but the interest went up to about 29%. These people are crooks!

"Beware"
This is the absolute worst card ever. If you are trying to raise your credit, don't mess with them. I had my card stolen in November, and when reported, they told me that it would be taken care of. It is now June, and there has been NO progress what so ever. Customer service and fraud department both incredibly rude, and they will call you about overdue payments about 8 times a day, from different numbers.J

"This company isn''t worth trying"
I agree with many people here. They have fees for absolutely everything. My credit score was ruined by these people alone. The customer service is horrible. I''ll complain and they won''t make any effort to resolve the issue. My balance keeps increasing even though I am not even using the card. This is outrageous to me personally. Never in your life become a cardholder for this credit card company, they will certainly rip you off!

"Don''t get this card"
Like someone else on this site said, I got the card to raise my credit but instead I am pretty sure my credit was lowered. I paid online for about six months before I realized I was being charged to do so... which is completely ridiculous because in this day and age, EVERYTHING is done online. Anyhow, it seems how much I owe keeps going up, even though I have not used the card in three months! Last month, I owed 550, so I paid 250... and now I owe 350... hm. That math does not add up. The website does not provide a list of current fees, charges *or* credit card use. All it says for my past month of activity is that I paid 250... so WHERE did that extra 50 come from?!?? Dang nabbit. Don''t get this card.
