"Taking advantage-PLEASE READ B-4 TAKING THE CARD"
I am very disppointed with this card company. Yes, i do have less than perfect credit, i did apply for this card and i did receive it and have used it. I have had their M/C for over a year since just being notified of being billed another annual fee. I was given the usual initial $300 limit which most was ate up with fees in the beginning. I have made all payments on time and every payment has been doubled of what was due. I recently requested a credit increase and was told that because of my credit history they could not increase my credit limit. I receive, on a monthly basis ,a pre-approved notice for another card with of course all of the usual fees associated with it. I had to phone Premier Bank with a question on my bill and they actually told me on the phone that i was eligible for another card, would i like it. Can someone please tell me the reason behind not being able to increase my credit limit on my currect card but issuing me another card would be no problem at all. I think this is simply taking advantage of people when they are not at their best. I have every intention of paying off this card and closing the acct. I refuse to be taken advantage of at this point and i advise others to do the same. There are other card companies out there that you can re-build your credit without being taken advantage of.

Most attractive feature: It is provided to people with less than perfect credit
Least attractive feature: The fees.

"First Premier Bank Mastercard"
I got this card via an offer mailed to me. Yes, I have bad credit as a result of a failed business venture from over 7 years ago which resulted in judgements and collections. First Premier was the first offer I received with somewhat acceptable terms.

It's no secret that people with poor credit scores, bankruptcies, judgements and liens have little to no chance of getting a credit card without having to pay (what seems) like highway robbery fees etc. I did review the fine print and the high fees associated with this card but figured I would apply for it anyway and see if I could get a decent line of credit to help rebuild my score.

I received my card quickly. They gave me a $250 limit and fees that almost ran up to that allowable limit. I was not happy about this at all BUT The interest rate was fixed at 9.9% which was a surprise. What I did next is what was the biggest surprise and why I still use this card.

I called customer service and spoke with a nice representative. I explained my situation where I am trying to establish my credit again. I used to have PLATINUM credit and over $100k in avail lines at one point. I had maintained this over 15yrs but had a business that failed and got into trouble and defaulted. I never filed for bankruptcy, which I probably should have so now, seven years later I have multiple judgements and liens on my credit. I told the rep that I would be ok with paying fees IF they would have given me at least 1k available credit to start. Since they only gave me $250 I said I did not want the card and to cancel it. I was immediately transfered to another sales rep who was also very nice. He asked me if he waived some of the initial fees would I consider keeping the card. I said I would but of course had to haggle a little bit over the total that they would waive. After a few minutes and a few "but what about this other fee" on my part, I got him to credit me back all but the annual fee of $49 and raise the available credit line to $400 with a review in six months to get an increase.

I was happy with the outcome and have been using the card for about five months now. It has been great to be able to have credit when I need it and it's a small enough line that I can pay off each month while rebuilding my credit score.

The only thing that I don't like is there is a $7 fee charged monthly to the card for some service which you cannot decline. I think they do this in the hopes that if you don't charge on the card one month you may forget that you still have to pay the balance of $7 that's automatically charged. If you don't, they will hit you with a $39 late charge and raise the interest rate to some rediculous percentage. I know they are in business to make money, but I don't like the sneaky tactics they use to do it. I agree those of us with bad credit should pay more, but just be up front with us and don't try to "trick" us into paying more!

The other downside is the fees they charge to pay by phone or online are a huge drawback. I pay all my bills online or over the phone to avoid potential late fees with snail mail transit times. Being charged to pay your bill via an automated system seems unfair in my humble opinion. I think this is also done as a deterrent to using these options in the hopes that you'll mail in your payment and be a day late so they can hit you with late charges and interest rate hikes, a similar trick to the $7 monthly fee thing.

Overall though, they fact they actually gave me a chance and did waive some of the outrageous set-up fees, I really cannot complain. I just make sure to be responsible with this account, charge only what I can afford to pay off each month and just deal with having to pay them a service charge to pay them conveniently!

Most attractive feature: Ability to rebuild your credit.
Least attractive feature: Fees charged to pay online or by phone and monthly automatic $7 fee.

"First Premier Bank Credit Card"
Other than the high rates to pay online I have no complaints. After a long history of bad credit and a bankrupcy over twelve years ago I had a hard time trying to rebuild my credit. First premier was the first to offer me a credit card and after paying off all the fees and using the card for a few months to pay gas and other monthly bills and then paying off the balance everymonth I began to get more credit offers. I have held back until one offer last week for a card with no annual fee and 0% intrest rate until December 2010. This card has been great for helping me build credit when paying off debt and and paying monthly bills ontime was barely making stride. I will continue using my card but I will not take thier offer for a new card because I do not want to pay the high fees again. It has been great for what I needed it for but you have to know and be ready for the resposibility that having credit cards intails. So stop complaining and take responsibility.

Most attractive feature: They were the first to offer a credit card to me in years.
Least attractive feature: The high rates of paying online and or over the phone.

"You reap what you sew"
If you do not need to build or rebuild your credit this card is not the right one for you. If you have to rebuild your credit- thic card may be a useful tool.

If you were used to going on vacation and staying at the marriott and enjoyed their free breakfast and free wi-fi, then went around and let marriott loan you money and you did not pay it back so now you are forced to stay at the red roof inn with no free breakfast and wi fi for a fee, you would understand. That is exactly what this card is.

A lot of you messed up with AMEX and other real banks and are now forced to deal with the bottom of the barrel for a few months. Instead of complaining about the fees, find a way to make it work for you.

I have read posts on here and I see a lot of complaints about the costs. Lets see, it costs about 180 to get unsecured credit using the first premier card. This can help one rebuild their credit and save more that 180 in interest rates down the road.

As soon as I got my gard, I sent in twice the minimum monthly payment of $25 dollars which is $50 dollars. I had planned to use the $50 for gas money to get back and forth to work however, I used the avaible $79 cretid that was left on the card and bought gas with it. Then, the $50 dollar payment posted a few days later, I plan to do this every week. Take the $50 I usually spend on gas, send it to First Premier and use the card to buy gas or other critical consumable items that I reqularrly purchase.

"Works to improve credit score if used properly"
The card does have high fees. However, if used properly, by paying on time and keeping balances low the card will help to improve your credit score.

I can't complain because, if I had used credit better in the past I would have a better score. I have learned from my poor judgement and use credit more responsibly now.

"The fine print"
This credit card is a very poor value.

The letter I received emphasized a:

1) 5% rebate on all on-time payments in the first year.

2) Fixed 9.9% APR

3) Platinum MasterCard

I have three other Visa cards, two which have credit limits of $30,000 and $25,000 respectively.

I charge about $100,000/year in purchases so the 5% rebate offer would mean about $5,000/year for me.

Where the deception comes in is in the fine print and what is not stated.

What is pure deception is the size of the credit limit offered: I was shocked that mine was $250 as I have perfect credit and significant income.

Then it all made sense (in an evil way). First Premier charges:

Program Fee = $95
Account Set Up Fee = $29
Annual Fee = $48
Monthly Servicing Fee = $7

They take all of those fees and deduct them from your $250 credit limit ! You now owe them $179 on your credit card and you have available credit of $71.

The 5% cash back amounts to $1.25 a month ($15/year) if you charge the maximum allowable each month.

So read the fine print, beware, and run away (unless what I've described sounds like a good deal to you).

I am retired and have a fair amount of free time and am using the next month to post about First Premier in every consumer forum I can find

"First Premier Bank Credit Card"
This card has helped me out when I needed it. I couldnt get approved for a regular bank credit card. So I tried here and they approved me for 250 credit limit. After four or five months of having this card I was approved for another one. I have no complaints about this card. I was in the time where I needed money and I activate this card and had to pay nothing out of the pocket other than it being charged to the account. I was glad cuz I was able to spend some money that I really needed. Since then I havent had no problems with them. I had a credit card with a regular bank and had alot of problems. Honestly, I think that my premier card is alot better. And I cant wait to see what amount I will be approved for next. As most of the bloggers are saying pay ur payment time truths. It is alot better making it on time. If after then of course there is going to be consequences some people dnt understand there responsibilities of fees and overdrawels. At least they r giving u a second chance! I was glad I didnt have to pay anything right then in there out of my pocket. They gave me support when I needed it and I do recommend this card to anyone who is in the same situation as I was in. Thank you first premier bank. :)

"Great card for someone who wants to rebuild their credit."
I ran into trouble years ago and my credit score dropped a lot from where I was getting approved for small loan to where no credit card company would offer me a card, not even orchard. I heard about First Premier when I worked for a collection agency and everyone told me they were a scam and a rip off. I eventually fell into hard times and needed credit desperately. I went to their site and filled out an application. Later I received a letter stating they revised their terms because of my low score but they were willing to offer me some credit according to THEIR TERMS. I read it thoroughly and even though they have a lot of fees, if you dont use wire transfers, western union, and just mail a check to the right address, it gets credited within a week. As long as you know your limits, read and understand the terms of use and fees, youll be fine.

Most attractive feature: Allowed me a second chance on rebuilding my credit but READ AND UNDERSTAND the terms
Least attractive feature: I haven't had any bad experiences so far. Fees are applicable to my usage.

"I have nothing negative to say"
I have never had any issues with this card. The APR is high because my score is so low. My bank is free bill pay, they receive and post my payment in 2 days max. Customer service is great, I would recommend this card to anyone. Score hasn't changed, but it's there when I need it. Read all fine print, you should have no problems.

Most attractive feature: Great customer service
Least attractive feature: APR's but my fault!!
