| "Avoid This Card" |
I've had this card for many years and it used to be my best card. I used the accumulated points to purchase several vehicles.
But a year or two ago, everything changed and now it's my worst card. I've had all kinds of processing errors and erroneous late charges, including one late charge for paying my bill one day BEFORE the due date. They claimed that even though they received the payment on time, it took them four days to process it.
For a long time, one could only speak to overseas representatives, who were completely incompetent. After demanding to speak to an American representative, I was eventually transferred to an American who resolved one of my problems and told me that if I asked, I would always be transferred to an American representative. |

| "HSBC security programs border on harrassment." |
| Credit card companies monitor purchases for fraud, particularly several purchases over a short period. During a busy holiday shopping period this creates problems. Unfortunately, two merchants lost sales due to HSBC's flawed fraud monitoring systems. I was unable to reach them to discuss the problem due to their automated phone system. I normally carry a credit balance (they owe me) with HSBC to avoid interest and penalties. Have never missed a payment or been late. The problem isn't a cardholder problem, the problem lies entirely with HSBC MasterCard. I have offered assistance to the merchants for their lost sales in the event they wish to pursue sanctions or legal action. MasterCard is separate from the banks, the banks provide funding, MasterCard provides billing administration. In this case, the problem lies entirely with the bank, HSBC Nevada, an organization which should be avoided by consumers relative to credit cards. |

| "5% back on everything - no complaints!" |
I've had this card for two years and I think it is probably one of the best automotive cards out there.
Getting 5% back is awesome. Whether I buy something big or small, these rewards add up so that I can buy the car I really want.
I'm hoping to get a new car soon! |

| "Will stop your account and not tell you and leave you hanging!" |
| They will lock and stop your account WITHOUT telling you at all and leave you hanging over a $5 disputed charge. Give me a break! What a waste of time. |

| "Entrapment " |
| This sad group of martians raised my interest rate from 8% to 32% because they said I paid late. I sent the bill 12 days in advance. They refused to listen. This card is owned and operated by people who want to destroy other people through finanical shell games. Please, do not use this card. |

| "Stay away from the GM Card" |
I've had my GM card probably the longest of any card I currently have. However as of the past few months they have become horrid. I'm getting charged for things that are just insane. Like another poster here, I too was charged a Finance fee for being ONE DAY late. It was an insane $29 fee also.
They also gave out these checks in the mail to use towards anything you want, and you'd also get a low interest rate. But I wasn't expecting the scam job pulled by them. Apparently in tiny print (you need a magnifying glass to read it) hidden on the back of the paper, it says you will pay a cash advance free for using the check. And I used it to buy a $4 toy off a pop-tart box, only to be charged a $15 fee on top of it.
They also recently charged another $1 finance fee for some unknown reason to me, and all I get is canned replies back from them when I try to find out what its for.
It used to be that I worried about being scammed by merchants I purchase from. Who would think I'd have to worry about being scammed from my own credit card company.
My American Express Blue card is FAR FAR better, with better benefits even... and their benefits don't expire like the GM Card does. |

| "They Treat Loyal Longtime Customers like CRAP!!!!" |
| I have been a cardholder since 2000 and have paid all my bills on time. they continued to increase my limit and I continued to spend while still making all payments on time. One day I paid one day late (I paid online the day before my payment was due and it took 2 days to post) and they increased my interest rate from 12% to 24%. I have since paid the balance in full and intend to cancel once I research and apply for a better offer. |

My father & mother were joint on the card. Dad died. 2 months later for no reason they cancelled the card!! Mom was out of state on vacation 79 years old limited cash. She had a credit card she could not use.
They were sorry, but when they were notified in August they didn't follow thru.
It took weeks and I am still dealing with it.
They must not need the business!! |

| "Receint change it terms" |
Because they said I was a prefered customer they " upgraded" me to a GM World card with out my consent and changed my account number. What a pain in the butt. They just closed out the old account and issued a new one.
I have talked to them several times to no avail and sent the following letter.

I have had a GM card for many years and recently GM decided
to " upgrade" it to a World master card.
I called and spoke to a GM representative and told her I did not want to be
upgraded to the new card.
1st of all I do not need any upgraded services
2nd, in a world governed by numbers, any change creates numerable other
changes you must make because of an account # change.
3rd. I did not request, want or authorize any change in my account.
What were you thinking when you arbitrarily changed the account numbers
on thousands of account holders.
How would you feel if you received a letter from the phone company
telling you your phone number had been " upgraded" because you
had paid your bills on time and were a good credit risk ?
If GM has no way to allow me to keep the old account and corresponding
account number I will have no other recourse than to allow the account
to expire, as I have no intent to use the new account.

All I got back was a nice form letter stating they didn't know exactly what the problem was !
What really pisses me off is.. if I had been a deadbeat and not paid my bills on time they would not have " upgraded " me.
If your considering GM master card be prepaired to have them change the terms of service or change your account number.
