"horrible customer service"
I signed up for the skymiles gold card and was promptly approved. I had delta miles already and these incremental miles would give me just what I needed to secure a round trip ticket to Hawaii for my honeymoon.
Since the initial transfer, I''ve had nothing but a horrible experience. For some reason, every charge I make results in miles being SUBTRACTED from my account. I''ve called customer service at least a dozen times, been on the phone for hours at a time and no one can help me. This is the single worst customer experience issue I''ve had. Never in my life have I had a company agree that there is a problem, yet not come up with a way to fix it! They keep opening up "cases" that are never resolved. Stay away. Stay very far away. |

"Great Primary Card"
If you pay off your card monthly and spend more than $1,500 a month, use this card. We use it to travel to Florida and Washington for cruises. This year was the first time I ever regretted it. The flight times just didn't line up and I spent too much $ on a hotel due to the need to stay an extra night. We fly at least once a year on this card. Most often, I can get something to work with flights. I love the special 2 miles for 1 dollar promos. Customer service has been reliable and consistantly decent(Not excellent, but good).

"Full coverage"
I had to go back to school for 3 months and bought a bicycle. About 1 week later, the bike was stolen. After calling AMEX, they credited me the bike and lock in full and were very cooperative. AMEX is a classy company, but you have to pay for service nowadays. If you can afford it, someone will listen to you. Oh yeah, and the Delta miles are useful but if you want to go overseas, make sure to fly Air France with the Delta miles!

"Delta Sky Miles Program or The Delta Bait and Switch Program"
Every time I try to use my miles... the flights are never available when I want to go. This time I called three months in advance and still no seats available. However if I am willing to double my miles from 25,000 to 50,000 the seats are available. Not first class either this is for a standard ticket not even a business class ticket... Delta is wanting you to use double the points to travel on their program verses the 25,000 they sale their program to you...
Instead of a trip that should only take 100,000 miles for a family of four it takes you 200,000. If they are not going to honor the tickets for 25,000, Delta should change their program and stop misleading their customers...
I am ready to take legal action and I am looking on the internet to see if a case already exists but I have not found it yet... |

"Worst deal"
I would not recommend this card to my worst enemy. It is a huge problem to fly anywhere with Delta sky miles if you want to go during Summer time. We tried to book 6 month in advance and they tell you that they do not have any tickets. BUT after 2 hours on phone with the manager and a lot of complains we finally got tickets with complicated itinerary. They just do not want you to travel during your most convinient times.

"The perfect card if it applied to all airlines."
I got this card using a Delta web promo of 10k startup miles and no fee for 1st year. I was stocking up for a trip abroad. The double mile features works right away (even though the contract says it could take up to 10 wks to see the double credit).
The only downside is that I am locked into Delta and its parners. Delta was pretty reasonable about releasing award seats, but some of their partners are real tightwads. Air France was generous, but Continental wouldn't release seats even tho they had tons of availability. Also, you cannot wait-list with the partner awards.
The real benefit of a card with set mileage awards is that you can get a complicated itinerary for the same number of points as a simple one. Unlike Capital One, where my Hartford-Newark-Paris-Marseille round trip would cost me 140k points! versus 50k with Delta.
I sure hope Delta stays in business. |

"Best reward deal out there"
I work in a Bank that is rated #1 issuer of visa and we have several reward programs, Airline partners, Hotel, Stores, Cash back, you name it we have it...Delta reward from Amex is the best one of all...Why? double reward features all the time not like other credit cards for a limited time of 1 or 2 months...for example I earned double points at Home improvement stores(Homedepot,Lowes..) Supermarkets, Gasoline purchases, cellular bill...2 miles for $1.00, and yes they have every couple months promo offer, that if you used your credit card from X date to X date you double miles or 100 additional bonus miles for every purchase. Also great offers to signed up with other companies and get bonus miles...for example I signed with MCI and received 10,000 bonus miles plus 5 miles for every $1...I signed up with Earthlink cable and received 10,000 miles and the list of similar offer is incredible...Forgot to tell you, when you fligth with Delta and partners you get 1 mile for every mile flown...

"Credit declined, bonus miles never awarded without major hassles"
On occasion, I have been declined credit for no good reason when traveling, and twice have had to initiate multiple contacts to get AmEx to deliver on its "Double Miles" offer. I STILL have not received the bonus for a promotion that ended last JULY! Some of their customer service people are non-responsive and will not deviate from a script even when the circumstances do not match. Further, some have extremely heavy accents and a language barrier. They do not understand the meanings of my words, and I cannot understand their pronunciations.

"Miles transfer a hassle"
Make sure your name matches your account/sky miles exactly 'cause you won't get the miles... you have to spend alot of time w/customer service when your miles don't transfer...it itakes along time, so if you're interested in using them quickly...beware.

"Horrible customer service"
I will spare the details of the numerous calls it usually takes to alleviate problems incurred. Suffice to say, the customer service reps are a nightmare to deal with. All are young, inexperienced, rude, and have no knowledge of their jobs. It's amazing that a reputable company has such low hiring standards for their customer service reps. This is a prime example of a good company, a great product (attractive benefits from their credit card) but poor customer service. Customer service is everyhting- and when AMEX realizes this and gets rid of their clueless helpdesk staff, they will be much better off.....and will have at least one additional customer come back.
