Credit Card overall
01/26/2005
I havenot had any problems with this card at all. I pay it online and my payment clears in 2 business days. The only feature I don't care for is that I use it alot for business and authorizations on resturants are doubled authorized, if you leave tip and it will take 8 days to fall off, which decreases your credit limit, when your limit is not that high.
Most Attractive Feature: Only place that would give me a card while I was still in my Comercial Proposal
Least Attractive Feature: Double hold your account on authorization, resturants charges/takes 8 days to drop off

Home Trust VISA allowed me to successfully repair bad credit
12/02/2004
I found the Home Trust VISA credit card application on a great website http://www.CanadianCreditCenter.com -- which also had good credit information services. Although I wasn't thrilled with saving up $1,000 for the refundable security deposit, it was way better than my bank or credit union which demanded I deposit three times my credit limit with them ... that would have been $3,000!!! Sure the fees suck, but then so does having bad credit. I started with the Home Trust Secured VISA credit card, then eventually got Sears and Canadian Tire credit cards, and now have an unsecured VISA credit card with my bank again. It was only possible by getting the Home Trust VISA first, then starting to repair my credit one month at a time. Both my Equifax Canada and TransUnion Canada credit scores improved nicely over two years. Check out the Canadian Credit Center web site for all the details. I'm certainly glad that I did!

not a good card

I had a hometrust visa for 2 years in the last year i got behind on payments and their collection department phoned me and threatened me they sent letters out to my neighbors saying i owed money and they phoned 30-40 times a day.I finally had to phone the police and a lawyer. Finally i was able to pay the card off and close the account.I paid 45.00 to much and they have not refunded it to me it has now been 2 years and they will not erase my debt from the eqifax company although they have been paid up and over the cost for 2 years now.I do not reccomend anyone go with this company.
Most Attractive Feature: the only good feature is it is easy to get
Least Attractive Feature: they charge to many fees and barely speak english

Deliver what they promise.

I couldn't get a card for anything due to a double bankruptcy. In 2001 I learned of Home Trust on the net and inquired. Iwas skeptical but I took the chance and sent in a 500.00 deposit and got a 500.00 limit. I kepy my rating at R1 for 3 years. Home Trust said their program was to eventually get me an unsecured card with another lender. Yesterday I got that card with a 5000.00 limit! I believe that the only reason I got the new card was due to Home Trust's prompt reporting to equifax.
Most Attractive Feature: Ability to reestablish credit.
Least Attractive Feature: Inability to offer unsecured card product.

Gets you going again

I declared bankruptcy back in 2003. The month after it was done I got a $750 Visa card. They fedexed it to me promptly. Very fast service by email. Friendly customer service. It gets you going to re-establish your credit and my $750 is safely making money for me. Great card overall.
Most Attractive Feature: Accurate billing, very prompt to all email requests.
Least Attractive Feature: Call-centre can give you 3 different answers at times.

This card is a joke, get a secured card from your bank or credit union before Home Trust
11/20/2003
This company charges fees, fees, fees, and when you make cash payments - they are still held until the payment clears (5 Business) days - Cash does not clear it is instant - Home Trust will allow you to have the holds removed with proof of cash payment from your bank, but that involves a call to New York from Canada - an incredible amount of time on hold, then faxing your proof, and waiting for Home Trust's "service provider" to remove the hold. Almost 11.00 a month for a joint-account 7.50 single-no benefits, and you have to have $6300 dollars on deposit just to break even from all the fees. RUN AND RUN FAST TO YOUR LOCAL CREDIT UNION IN CANADA - THEY WILL SECURE YOU, AND NO FEES - Home Trust advises they are the only ones in Canada for poor credit. They are not - just look around, and try a Credit Union if your own bank won't help - HTC are just credit pimps!
Most Attractive Feature: Visa Card for Poor credit
Least Attractive Feature: Customer service and holds on payments
