Helped me get back on my feet

After I spent the years following college getting into debt, I thought my credit score was ruined forever. When I realized I'd never be able to buy a house at the rate I was going, I knew I needed to shape up. This card really helped me become more responsible. I use it a couple of times a month and make regular payments. And here's the thing--Household Bank actually reported to the credit agencies on a regular basis, so my good behavior made a difference. It only took a few months for my credit score to improve, and that gave me the motivation to stick with it. Thanks for taking a chance on me!

I went through an ugly divorce a few years ago and my ex took nearly everything I had. With the help of this card, I was able to rebuild my credit to a respectable score. Customer Service is great - though I wish there were more women to speak to! But what totally sets this card apart is that it lets you choose your own payment due date. I can't begin to express how convenient this feature was - and still is - to me. Choosing my own date alleviates the number of bills I have that are due around the same time... As with any credit card, be wise with your spending and this card will work wonders. If only my ex got me as excited as this card... *sigh*

This card is suppose to help you rebuild your credit, but the only thing it did for me was to ruin it even more. I didn't use my card for 2 months and kept getting hit with late fees and over the limit fees. I wouldn't be late if I didn't have the over the limit fees and I would be over the limit if I was charge a late fee every 2 weeks! Go figure. I just cancelled my credit card and I had to say it 3 times " I want to cancel my card". I was offered to waive the fees and continue my card, then I was hit with I will add this fee (12.95 to process my check, they do not take debit cards)to my next statement. Well hello there is not going to be a next statement, I am CANCELING MY CARD!@!!. I work as a nurse in the ICU and these people called my work 6 times in 12hrs, and they would literally beg for my checking account number or debit card. I don't know who these people think they are but get a grip and another job. This job makes you look bad.

Avoid Household Bank Cards AKA- Orchard Bank cards. If you close your account and have a balance, the will charge you a $3.50 maintenance fee. Yes, a maintenance fee. Yet if you have a balance a dont use the account and pay it off, there is no fee. THIS MAKES NO SENSE.
I paid my account in full and I have yet to receive my letter stating that my account has a zero balance and it is two months later.
Lastly, if you call customer service, you can rest assure that you will be speaking to someone in India. YES, India!

Trying to pay off the balance and it continues to increase as I try to pay it off. its now at 23%.They also charge a $3.50 A MONTH MAINTENENCE FEE.When you close account be prepared for a very high APR AND FEE'S

I had a card show up in my name at my parents address. I cancelled the card immediately. I never ordered it. That was over a year ago. I just got off the phone with HB and they are saying my account is past due. I told them I closed that account and didn't want their business from the day I received their card. They said I cancelled the card before the annual fee, therefore I owe them. They are a very bad company, using your credit report as a hostage to extort money from good people.

Household card has a bad service and they should train their emplyee before put them deal with custoemr. They should train them technically too in order to do basic plus and minus.

I had a credit card that Household took over and I had great service from them. I particularly didn't like my interest rate as high as it was, but when it came to overlimit fees being tacked on due to interest, they credited me for them. They were always helpful and courteous. If I ever got an overlimit fee it was due to my spending and not being careful. Can't fault them for that! I did pay the balance off and close the account due to the high interest rate and went with another company instead.

I found the household visa to be quite good. If you have any credit issues they will work with you and you get the card really fast. They accept payments online and will email you a payment reminder that I find helpful

I have a Credit Limit of about $2000........I use it once a month.( $40 amonth).....I have had the card over a year now..I have always paid my bills on time and i have never over drawn on any cash advances....But I can't seem to get a credit Limit increase......Otherwise I like the card.

Best benefit of this card is a rather thorough website that covers most anything you'd want to know, and payment reminders by e-mail if you need them.
Otherwise the APR isn't so hot and it's just another card.
I cancelled it some time ago and have been paying it off, my only real complaint was one time I asked about getting the card reactivated and the 20 year old customer care rep was more than a little sarcastic in rejecting it. OTOH maybe she was doing me a favor....

review of our household bank visa card

My wife applied for a household bank visa card and was approved several months ago. Since we began using the card we have been very pleased with the service and the friendly customer service personel that we have had to deal with. (We got off to a rocky start fitting her payment into our budget schedule, I forgot it!) We now have them email us our billing reminders and that really helps. We also pay our bill online which is very convenient. No more running out of stamps. Their online payments system is great because I can schedule multiple payments at once and not have to worry about trying to remember to go to the web site monthly to make the payment. If anyone is looking for a new credit card, I would heartily recommend Household Bank's Visa to any and all.

Household bank credit cards can be great cards to have--but with serious consequences if a life event hits that causes you to miss even a single payment. For the longest time, I thought Household was the best card to have when I enrolled in a debt management program with Consumer Credit Counseling, reducing my rate to just 6%. Despite 3 years of success on the program, however, when I finally couldn't make the minimum after a 40% loss of income, they shot up my rate to over 30%! I immediately transfered all my balances off the card to another--even after they reinstated my interest rate (to 9%). Also, halfway through my program, they suddenly changed my rate from 6% to 9% and increased my minimum payment. No other card of the 5 in the program did that! Watch out for Household!!!! By contrast, the best card was Bank One--which is still in the program after 4 years. They gave me a rate of 11% and reinstated it to 11% after uping it to only 14% during my problem 3 months. Unlike my other cards, THEY NEVER DROPPED ME FROM CCCS and kept the red tape to a minimum. Higher rate over all, but not jumping it made a difference for me.

If it's not done during your payments, it will be done during your last payment. What normally takes 5 days to process your payment will take 20 or more, allowing them to charge accrued interest, late charges and even more interest and late fees on top of those. Then they'll enter that fraudulent and libelous information on all four of your credit reports. Racketeering, Fraud, Libel, conspiracy with Credit Burearus....Guilty of all. Don't get a credit card issued by Household Bank in the name of a retailer who may even be acting in collusion with them. John Maston.

Good customer service doesn't exist at Household Bank. Most of their reps are barely literate. Their rude, antagonisic and I wouldn't do business with them if they were last credit card issuer on the planet. They continually post payments late in order to charge you a $29 late fee and when the added late payment fee causes you to go over you limit they add an additional $29 over limit fee.

2 cards, multiple problems with each. 1st was a department store card, 2nd a direct VISA. Both cases included erroneous charges, argumentative service reps, and lengthy steps to extricate myself from this company. NEVER accept anything from Household.

I WAS BEING CHARGED $21.95 FOR AOL SERVICES BEFORE I GOT A COMPUTER. I TRIED TO TO CLEAR THE ACCOUNT UP, THE COMPANY BOUGHT THE ACCOUNT FROM ANOTHER VERY BAD BANK. AN THIS WAS MY FIRST CREDIT CARD, WHICH TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE FOR ME AND MY WIFE. BECAUSE, I HAD TO PAY FOR SEVERAL CHARGES THAT WERE NOT MINE. NOBODY WOULD HELP BE WITH THIS PROBLEM, NO DISPUTE WAS PROCESSED EVERY. I AM NOW STILL OWE THEM AND THE AMOUNT GOES UP FASTER EACH MONTH. I LOST MY JOB AFTER 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACK. THEY TOLD ME, I COULD PAY WITH MY UNEMPLOYMENT, WHICH IS ONLY $210 PER WEEK. I CAN BEARLY PAY RENT WITH THIS. I JUST FEEL THEY FAILED ME WITH NOT MAKING ANY ATTEMPTS TO INVESTIGATE THE DISPUTES, I FILED WHICH WERE OVER $320.00 WORTH. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS. BY THE WAY, I AM USING MY MOTHER'S COMPUTER NOW. THIS IS HER WEB ADDRESS, MY PROBLEM.

Had a problem with a merchant regarding cancellation, Household took their side and did not want to hear what we had to say. So I strongly recommend that you look for a much reliable credit card than this. We cancelled the card once the check cleared.

Just wanted to add a postitive statement here within all these negative ones! I have a household card, and have had once since I started working for HOUSEHOLD 12 YEARS AGO!!!! The customer service is outstanding! I have never had a problem that wasn't resolved by calling customer service, explaining my delema and having it resolved PROMPTLY! I would not be working for a company that did not stand behind it's product. Signed, 12 years strong and going!!!!!

Almost 3 years ago I was laid off from my job for 3 months. With the insurance coverage I thought I would be protected from high interest rates but the insurance company took 3 months to pay on my claim.I was back to work. Hb bank increased my rate to 23.99%.It's still there even though I have requested a reduction of that rate on several occasions. Beware!

this card charges 29.00 late charge if you are even one day late. in fact you can pay it on the due date at their web site and it won't be posted til the next day and you will be charged $29.00. the interest rate is ridiculous.

I received a pre-approved offer and accepted. I was given a $250 credit limit (don't know why I didn't close it right then).
This company is notorious for letting payments sit for days to a week before applying the payments. If you get this card, send in your payments the day you get your bill.
They claimed I was late twice and closed my account. Customer Service didn't give a crap about my business. Three years later I'm 25, now make $110K, and will NEVER do business with HouseHold again.
