| "Nice Card if You Use Marathon a Lot" |
I used to have the Chase I-Card and called Chase one day to see if they would switch me over to the Marathon Platinum card. They did quickly and in a friendly manner, and sent one to me right away.
The card gives you 5% back on all purchases at Marathon in the form of rebates, which are credited to future Marathon purchases. It also gives you 1% back on all other purchases, which in itself makes it equal to many reward cards. There is a Marathon right down the road from my house, and the card gives me 5% back on fuel, pizza, snacks, and anything else that the station sells. If there weren't a Marathon nearby the card wouldn't be as useful of course.
Chase has some good services, like online bill pay and account viewing. My credit limit has stayed the same for awhile now (while Firstusa and MBNA have consistently raised my limits), although I don't even use 1/20th of my limits most of the time anyway. The only drawback would be that my APR is not very good in comparison to FirstUSA or MBNA. However, if you pay the balance off each month, who cares? Also, there is an annual fee. However this is waived if you make 9 purchases in a year. I made 9 in the first month I think. Overall, this is a good card. |
