"On time internet payments"
I have only had my account for two months. My payment was due on November 5th I made a one time online payment on November 3rd. The month of October I had made two seperate payment to them online and through my checking accout. For the November payment I log on line clicked on payments, then clicked on one time payments a box appeared with my banks name and the 4 digits of my checking accout, I clicked to use this account, the same account that they had use to take my October payment from my checking, then I clicked the box for other amount and entered what I wanted to pay. November 8th I was checking my email and had one from Merrick Bank Stating that my bank sent it back to them as a return item. I called my bank explained to them what was going on and they said they have no history of Merrick Bank trying to make a transaction. I logged into my Merrick account on line and now they have hit me with a return item fee and a past due fee. When I spoke to the representive she told me that I had entered addition number to my checking account number. This made no sense because they already had my account on line and I just clicked and entered and once again they had no problem in October. They gave their fax number to their correspondence department to have my bank fax them information. Which I did and then called after receiving a second email that my payment had been returned and asked to speak to someone in the correspondence department to find out if they had recieved the letter from my bank and they said the had not. Called my bank they had sent it, so I asked them to send me a copy and I would have it delivered to Merrick Bank by certified mail since they can't find things. After logging on line it sounds like this is not a company I want to mess with. Many of the same complaints of making on time payments and getting charged addition fee for late payments.

"My Standards Are Too High"
My husband and I both had separate credit cards with with Merrick Bank. We both had some credit issues in the past, but have steadily worked on repairing them. One of our cards had a $1,000 credit limit and the other had a $1,250 limit. We have consistently made payments on time and on several occassions have paid them off, used them and paid them off again. Last Friday I paid both cards off (a total of $2,000). When I checked my husband's account today, there was a $23.00 interest fee tacked on the account. We called them and asked them to waive the fee because clearly the payment and interest charge crossed electronic paths, considering that I paid the full balance according to the banks own website. Not only wouldn't they waive the fee, but they were very rude and condescending on the phone...not only customer service reps, but supervisors as well. They were willing to lose both of our business over $23.00...and so they did. We both closed our accounts and vowed to let others know that you mean absolutely nothing to this bank. They have horrible customer service and I would rather ding my credit score than to give this company another dime. Thank you, Merrick Bank for showing me your true colors. I wonder if the owner and CEO's know that their low-level employees are losing them thousands of dollars in business, and even more in potential future business over $23.00. Well, they do now.

"No point to have this card"
They charge an annual fee and high interest rate. Even with good or very good credit score, they will not review your account or waive the annual fee. Took my business else where. If you can, transfer your balance away from this card. I prefer Capital One, Chase, or Citi. Able to negotiate rate down and waive fees. Merrick is worthless

"Merrick Bandits LLC"
This saga is different from other postings. I started with a secure credit card from Nextcard. I have a limit of $500 but no credit was available until you sent a payment in. So the first three months of the card I sent in $50 each month so I had a limit of $150. I then charged a printer cartridge and in my next statement they wanted the $50 and interest on the cartridge. When my wife saw this she blew her top and asked me why I was paying interest on my own money. I didn't really have an answer so I went out and charged $99 worth of items and that left me with $1.00 credit available and I called Nextcard and cancelled the card and told them they could keep the dollar. Next month I receive a new bill with a late charge plus another demand for $50. I called nextcard again and they assured me that they would correct this and make sure I wouldn't receive any more bills. Two years later Merrick bank sends me a letter demanding a payment of $440 for my Nextcard. I explained to them that I didn't owe them anything and they could also keep the dollar if they wanted to. Since then they have hounded me, threatened me, and wouldn't stop calling me. Finally this year they offered to settle for $130 so I paid them just to get rid of them. Absolute scumbags is the highest compliment I can give them. If I ever hear from them again I'm going straight to the NY Attorney General's office and let him deal with them. Good luck to all the other folks here.

"They just closed my account"
I tried using my card today and it was declined, completely embarrassed in the store. I had a $2650 credit line, a balance of $400, completely confused as to why it was declined I checked online and my available credit was $0.00, I called customer service and they informed me that my card was canceled no notice or anything. They would not tell me why other then a letter was on the way. I have never missed or have been late with a payment, always paid balance in full, maybe they did not like the fact I never gave them a dime in interest but to cancel my account for no reason or no notice is completely unprofessional.

"Stay Far Away From This Company"
I got a card from Merrick Bank two years ago after a bankruptcy. Obviously, I had poor credit. For two years, I used my card responsibly - never getting close to the credit limit and always paying my ENTIRE balance off each month. Last month, they cancelled my card without telling me. When I called to see why my available credit was 0, even though my credit limit was $1,150 and my balance was 0, they told me my account had been canceled and they could not reopen it. At that time they sent me a letter that simply stated my request to reopen my account was being denied because of, "My account performance." Honestly, I don''t care about this card because I''ve gotten better ones as I''ve rebuilt my credit. I wanted to keep it open because I''ve had it the longest. So, I called their customer service department and asked them to explain what, exactly, about my account performance caused them to close my account. I was told that I was "late a few times." When pushed to give me specific instances when my payment was late, the customer service could quote one payment that was late by ONE day, more than a year ago. Really??? Judging from the other similar reviews, I would say this company no longer wants to be in the credit card industry and is canceling accounts for no reason. Like I said, I don''t use this card because I have better ones - I just wanted the length on my report. Their business model is poor - stay away from this company.

"Credit Card account closed??? "
I received a letter stating they were closing my account due to past credit history and my open credit accounts?? I have paid on time every time. They just raised my credit limit by $300 the month before??? I still have the same accounts that I had when I opened this one and all have been paid on time and more than the minimum payment. Before this my credit had been good until they closed this account. I really hope they didn''''t put that on my credit report because if they did they have a fight ahead of them. I saved every statement and have canceled checks.
