"Customer Service"
When I tried to speak to an officer of the company the girl told me what they don't have them. Said they were just a credit card company. Apparently this young lady doesn't realize that all corporations have officers. They will not do anything to help you in anyway.

"Wish I never got this card"
This bank charged a very high interest rate and after having an account for 4 years NO problems I requested a lower interest rate. They refused so I closed the account. They also lowered my credit line out of the blue for no reason. My credit score was high, my overall debt is fairly low, I had a good history with them and this is how they treat their good customers.

have had bad credit inpast, working on fixing it, other low credit line cards anger me. Especially when some use tatics like "pay your balance the first 3 months and your getting a raise in credit limit" lies all lies. No lies with Merrick. Descent credit line $600 for my credit, Im happy, its now my only card, paid off that old capital @#$% card.

"Great Card that Rewards Good Credit Practices..."
I have been a cardmember with Merrick bank a little over 2 years now and just got a credit increase of $300 that put me up at a $2000 credit limit. I have enjoyed carrying this card, as it constantly rewards my good credit habits with frequent credit limit increases. I asked the CSR what is the cap on this card for credit limits and she stated that they do not have a cap. As long as I stay a good cardmember with them, my limit can get as high as I want it. Also, they do lower your APR as your balance comes down (balance to credit ratio). This is one card I plan to keep for a long time. Having a credit card with a $2000 limit and above is seen favorably by many creditors as it shows that someone finds me trustworthy to potentially lend me this amount. Keep you balances low and pay them off and rewards happen quite often with this card. Of all the others, this one is the best. Orchard bank is good, but is stingy on credit limit increases even with a zero balance. I have had 2 Orchard cards for the same time and they both do not have credit limits over $1000 even with zero balances. I am eager to see how far I can get this card up this year. I would highly recommend using Merrick Bank for your credit rebuilding needs. Be wise with it and you'll see the same.

"Received this Card"
I received this card by invitation. I did it as a fluke. My credit is very bad. I thougt since only thing they could do is turn me down. I was suprised when I received this card in the mail, without those stupid annual fees, start up fees.
This card is an unsecured card. So if you received this invitation in the mail apply. Thanks Merrick Bank for giving me this chance to improve my credit. |

"Great Card, in my opinion"
To make a long story short, I filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in early 2005 following the failure of my real estate investment business. My bankruptcy was discharged on June 27th of 2005. Prior to filing, my credit was impeccable, and I must say this bad credit routine has been an interesting experience that I look forward to having behind me. I shopped around on the web for offers for subprime cards, and people seemed to be recommending Orchard Bank and the Target Guest Card as options to rebuild credit history. I applied for both, and was approved by Orchard Bank with a paltry limit of $300 and rejected by Target. In order to have some type of decent limits with which to make daily purchases (let's be honest $300 will barely fill your gas tank and buy groceries these days), I also opened secured cards with First Premier and with HSBC Bank, each in the amount of $1000. Let me also say that HSBC's Secured Mastercard has been extremely user-friendly and I would recommend it also, except I believe they have discontinued it and moved their subprime products to their Household and Orchard Bank subsidiaries, after their buyout of Metris Cos. First Premier, on the other hand, charges fees for everything you can think of, and then some, and I'd probably not recommend their product. Between receiving these 3 cards and today, I have paid each off monthly and never run a balance. Last month, I received an invitation to apply for Merrick Bank's Visa Card, which was offered with a $750 initial credit limit, no annual fee, no other recurring fees of any type, and an interest rate of 21.75%. While the interest is a bit high, this is certainly to be expected with any subprime product, and overall I was very impressed with the offer. I filled out the paperwork and sent it in, and received my card a week or so later. I have called customer service twice, to activate the card and to add an additional user, and each time was connected immediately with an English-speaking US Resident (SO Rare in the credit card world) who was helpful and polite. I honestly couldn't be happier with this card, and would recommend that anyone who receives the invitation should accept it. Don't believe the NextCard horror stories and bad reviews, they stem from portfolio integration problems, after Merrick acquired portions of NextCard during their bankruptcy liquidation.

Most attractive feature: No Annual Fees, high initial credit limit, US-Based Customer Service
Least attractive feature: $20 "Replacement Card Fee"...kind of sneaky

"Great Card"
I was in the process of rebuilding my credit, and although I had 2 good cards with good limits I rec'd and invitation to get a Visa Crad. As a test to see how my credit had improved I applied. I did not expect an approval and this was the first application I had accepted in over two years. Well, I have to say I am very happy that I accepted it. I initially rec'd a credit limit of 1000 and after 6 months they raised it to 1600. After the first 2 online payments went through with a 3 day delay (which is understandable as they were checking my ability to pay) all other payments go through the day I submit them.
I have called them twice with questions and have received excellent help! A big A++++ is that their reps are American and your call is not routed to India or some other offshore location. Just a quick fact I uncoved, The Merrick Bank credit cards are actually issued by E Trade for Merrick bank.
If you are looking for a good, honest company to deal with I would look at Merrick |

"Another Increase!"
I just received another credit limit increase today in the amount of $300. This is wonderful! I have paid my Orchard Bank card balance in full and they have not given me a credit limit increase to date(after 8 months of holding the card). Therefore, I have closed that card. Merrick bank continues to treat me right with credit limit increases. I wish they would consider lowering the interest rate. But oh well, you can't have it all. Thanks
