Mervyns Sucks!!

I had paid my balance on my credit card and then closed the account. Approximately 8 months later my credit score dropped by 70 points due to Mervyns reporting a balance of n/a to n/a (whatever that means!!). I called the 800 number on the back of the card and was told it would take months to fix my credit back to where it was. Frustrating!!

I have had two Mervyns account opened in the five years. With both accounts I have never recieved any bills. When we tried to pay off the balance after we found out about the balance. Mervyns refused to accept our payment stateing that they had written off our debt. Just recently they have sent my account to a collections after five years with not even one attempt on their part to let me know that I owe them money. And when we tried to pay them they refused the payment. I will never shop at Mervyns or get any department store credit cards ever again.

Alleged I made a purchase and alleged that I was several months late when they failed to change my address (across-town move, same ZIP Code) while all other credit card issuers had no such trouble. Never produced any evidence of a purchase -- didn't seem to care about the facts, but just kept harassing me with phone call threats to destroy my credit rating. Although they had found it impossible to find me for regular billing (hence, generating "late charges") interestingly they had no trouble finding me for harassment purposes. If they had actually checked my credit record they wouldn't have had any difficulty finding me. Crowning touch: Collection department agreed to waive late fees if I paid the disputed bill, but then went back on their word and continued the harassment. I paid the disputed bill in order to satisfy the lender when I bought a new house, but Retailers National Bank refused to acknowledge that and continued to report the "debt" as "written off" for the next 6 years. Stay away from Retailers National Bank -- these people are dishonest. Too bad the credit card issuer doesn't get a rating displayed alongside the credit card applicant's.

Mervyn's Crecit Card

I have been a Mervyn's Credit Card customer for over 15 years. This year, Mervyn's started charging $21 to $26 in finance and late fees every month after the 1st late payment. Writing a letter to the El Paso Texas office gets the customer No Reply, No Action, and more late fees.
Call Mervyn's customer service phone, if you want to raise your blood pressure and get no results. You talk to someone in India who gives you a false name. They proceed to read the script, "Ma'am, I'm sorry but you didn't [fill in the blank], and I am not authorized to help you." or "Sorry, ma'am, but I cannot do that..." Do yourself a favor and Do Not Shop at Mervyn's.

I have had a Mervyns card for about a year now. I have never had ANY problem recieveing statements or having my payments posted. I loved retailers national bank. Now they switched to Monogram Creidt Card Bank of Georgia. Let me warn you all now..... THEY RIP YOU OFF. I have 3 credit cards with thousands of dollars limits....and MCCBG wont raise my limit on my mervyns card from 200.00. I HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE AND I DON'T owe a penny on my card. HMMMMM. MCCBG is not a bank to do business with. Make sure you record any phone call you have with them to ensure you get the answers u need because alot of people have been complainign about their billing. Be prepared to get a lawyer.

I have been a cardholder since 10/1985 with Mervyn's Credit Services, I must say the service has been great. The best benefit was that you could use your card at Mervyn's and Target. However Im quite upset now that Retailer's National Bank sent me a letter stating that Mervyn's was sold and my account will now be handled through Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia, which is not a very good bank to do business with, according to my past experiances. My advice would be to consider a major credit card instead.

I have had a Mervyn's account since October of 1985. This has been a very good bank to do business with. I also have a Target account with the same bank. Anytime I have had to call card services, they have always been very friendly and helpful. I was one day late once and I was charged a late fee, I asked them since it was only one day late if they would waive it, and they said sure no problem. Now thats customer service.
