LATE FEE RIP OFF ($35)

I am in the same boat as others listed under the Newport News charge card. I paid my balance in full at the time ($129) and serveral weeks later received a bill for late charge of $35.00. I called and informed the billing person this must be a mistake and I have paid my bill in full and did not use the card, and I did not know where this fee has come from, she stated to pay it anyway and send a letter stating I did...I did that and the next month received a bill for $35 late fee again, I did not pay it, and now the statment have over ($180) in total , all late fees added. I haven't used this card in over a year and paid it off in full in Oct 2004 - this is CRAZY and after watching Suze Orman I was attemping to clear my credit up, but stuff like this makes you GIVE UP!!

Destroy your credit report

I had opened this account back in '96 and closed it in '98. There was a late payment for over 120 days because I NEVER received the last statement. When I finally paid it to the creditor, my checks got cashed, but it stayed delinquent on my credit report. To the day they continue to report my account delinquent which affects my credit report, but it has been paid-off over 5 years. I have mailed them the copies of the checks made and bank statements where the checks were cashed, they CONTINUE to claim it as a charge off. Horrible for my credit score.

FRAUD

FCNB is ripping just about all of their card holders off. I have not received a statement in 18 months and can get no response from letters I send, but when I call their automated system my balance is almost always higher than last month even though I made payments. There seems to be no way to contact anyone there to get a issue resolved. The only thing that might get action is if the attorney general gets complaints. PLEASE go to your state's attorney general web site and file a complaint. You can probably file the complaint online and it will only take a minute. Hopefully if enough people file a complaint something will get done for us.

I never received notice that FCNB filed for BK, I first found out 8 months ago. I can no longer get a complete history of my account. When I speak with CPC they are rude and have no idea about anything. They can only go back 1 year....BULL.I have asked what chapter BK,FCNB filed and no one seems to know.....I have been charged late fees for not paying late fees. My account balance was under $100 when trans to CPC I have paid over 600.00 now and still owe 300.as of today...all late fees charged by them. why is anyone paying on these cards if the bank went bankrupt and is no longer in existance. I say let them put our balances on our credit reports as charg off...it drops off after 7 years..screw them lets get a class action suit going... and let them have it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one...

I recently purchased my 3 bureau credit report from an online service out of curiosity to see what I would find. I was not pleased. The "card processing center" that receives my payments for my Newport News charge card reported me as being deliquent when I was not. This account has been under maintenance on a Debt Consolidation program for a long time now. I make my payments to the program and they disperse my payments to the creditors every month on my behalf. On the beginning of June, I received a call from the "card processing center/newport news" stating they had not received a payment from me since March. This is bologna seeing as the debt consolidation service send my payments out on time ever month. When I called my consolidation company to investigate, they informed me that yes, they DID sent out payment checks to Newport News and the checks were left UNCASHED/posted for 21 days and to ensure that not just any unauthorized person pocketed the checks to try to cash them, they stopped payments on these original checks and reissued them. By the time the reissued ones were received by "card processing center", it is now June and resulted in 3 payments posting in June. I am very upset that these original checks were just floating around somewhere for any old person to cash or that they apparently misplaced them. It reflects an irresponsible manner in which they handle incoming card holders payment checks. So now MY credit history is being damaged because THEY did not post the original checks on time. After reading other posts on here, I see this seems to be a common occurance with them. I am very very unhappy that I am not able to call their "customer service" number and actually talk to a real live person. Instead, I have to send a letter (which may or may not get to someone) and pray this will be rectified. I am sending my letter via certified mail, along with a payment history from my debt consolidation service and I'm giving them a deadline of 2 weeks for someone to personally call me to straighten this out before I notify the OCC or the BBB. This is just shameful how they treat the consumer. THEY make an error processing OUR timely payments but yet the consumer is punished. And on a side note, one of my other cards on the program is a FCNB card. Their "customer service" situation is the same deal (can't talk to a real person). But my debt consolidation service DID give me a direct number to speak to someone regarding my FCNB account. For anyone interested, that number is 1-866-475-1434. I paid that account in full, but misestimated my remaining balance, resulting in a credit of $115 in my favor. So I had to call someone about receiving a refund check for the money I overpaid. I'm expecting to see it by the end of the week or I'm calling again.

I was approved and received this card with no problem. Then, another company took over or FNCB pulled out of the deal with Newport and we were not able to charge anything but continue to receive catalogs and interest rate shy rocked!!! We are still paying on the card and have available credit but not able to charge. When call customer service they indicate, "All I can tell you is the bank is not allowing you to charge on the account and no you are not in default." Sorry.

Have had this account for some time. Was told by a Eddie BAuer employee about the bankruptcy. My balance never goes down after multiple payments. Getting real sick of all the "late fees" too.

I paid my account in full over 2 months ago. The account is still being reparted to the credit agency as unpaid. When I called to obtain information on my account I was unable to talk to a live person. The phone number is disconnected. The customer service number does not have an option to speak to a live person. I DON'T THINK ANYONE IS AT HOME. This really frustrates me because I know the account totals were inflated and my payments were not posted until after the due date. I suspect to collect the late fee. I surprised them by paying the entire account in full, but I do not have a way of proving it to my mortagage company. What a crazy situation. Any suggestions?

The company shut down, and left all of its card holders out in the cold. I have never been late on any of my credit cards and now have a late payment posted on my FCNB account, I finally located a place to send payments and am told that they can not answer any of my concerns, and my question to them " Who are you guys?" I have no idea who I am told to send my money to. I made a financial agreement with FCNB, not some card processing center that can't anser my questions regarding my account. I am waayyy upset. I will be filing a formal complaint with the OCC at 800 613-6743. There should be some type of law that protects credit card holders in our position. I advice as many as possible to file complaints with the OCC so that our voices will be heard. There is power in numbers.

Payments - Out of business

As you all should know FCNB is out of business or out of the credit card business. Personally I held 3 cards with them (Newport, Spiegel and Master Card). They tend to post payments late and now I tried to contact them and every 800 number either does not work or it won't take the credit card numbers from Spiegel or Newport as valid. My payment has not been cashed and I have no way to follow up but to write a letter. I can not find their website either. Everything is just "gone"!! If anyone knows where questions and inquiries should be directed, I'd love to hear about it, I'm through!!

FCNB Account

I was having no problem with either my FCNB creditcard account or my Newport News account, until I got behind one month. I lost both accounts as supposedly so I was told they closed down, Which left me out of my Newport News account and I had quite a bit of credit with them and now lost it, thanks to FCNB. Now I can't order anything as I no longer have an account and lost my credit that I did have,

I recieved a notice of termination...??? I had closed this account out long ago, over a year ago as a matter of fact! I will be checking to make sure it had been closed as I had requested. The % rate is way to high, especially when my credit is excellent.
