To me a credit card is a credit card, when it comes to purchasing power. What I look for are low interest rates and above average customer service. I have used customer service at MBNA for a number of reasons. I called once to see why I was charged a late fee. (Shame on me-it actually WAS late.) Since it was my first offense and I took the time to call, the fee was waived!!! Once, I called to see about raising my credit limit. I had another MBNA card that I wasn't using, so the customer service agent combined the balance of both cards onto the card I was using and canceled the other card. The new balance was available to me immediately!! The last time I called was to complain. I discovered that my husband(who has the same card I do, has had it for less time, and has a lower credit limit than mine)had an interest rate of 13.9% while mine was 16.9%. While they could not really explain why there was a difference or why they could not lower mine to 13.9%, they did lower mine to 14.9%. Just like that!
To me, these things demonstrate above average customer service.
