I've had my card for about three and a half years. I was new to credit when I got it, and I'm occasionally late with a payment, so my limit isn't very high. However, the card has saved me several hundred dollars at this point by allowing me to capitalize on current promotions and pay for it the following week or over the next couple months.
To clarity:
The card generally shows up within 2 weeks. Ask for your card # to be written down when you are approved for it. If you don't get it in the normal 10-14 business day timeframe, call 1-800-767-4556 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-800-767-4556 end_of_the_skype_highlighting and give your account #. They'll fix it.
If you make a payment in the store on the day it is due, you will be late. The store is a store, not a credit department. The payment will be processed by credit within 2 business days. If you ARE making a payment extremely close to your due date, call the very same phone # above, and give them the receipt # you made your payment on. They will fix it.
If your card is lost or stolen, call that number. They will fix it.
If you haven't received a bill by the end of each month, call that number. They will tell you your balance, your due date, minimum payment - AND... you guessed it, they will fix it.
If you make your payments late because you were told something false by an employee - learn to start reading contracts and application information. You are screwed, and while you may have been mislead, it is ultimately your fault for not taking a peek at the words on the paper or the screen presented to you before signing your name.
By the way, current promotions are as follows:
$0-99: regular variable interest rate.
$99-198.99: 6 months, no interest.
$199+: 12 months, no interest.
15% discount on store stocked batteries.
10% discount on first purchase, with some exclusions that you can ask the employee about.
You still have to pay your monthly bill. It will be due the same day every month now, as per new credit laws. The dates will not change. If your first bill is due January 5th, your second will be due on February 5th and your 5th will be due on May 5th. Simple stuff.
Most Attractive Feature: Discount offers, low payments, multiple safety nets in case of problems.
Least Attractive Feature: Not paying results in fees that are all presented in the application process.

I have attempted to make an online payment twice and BOTH times they have charged me a late fee and reversed the charges causing me to not only get a late fee but be charged at a larger interest rate...This is a ripoff and I am closing my account! CUSTOMER SERVICE DO NOTING TO HELP.

Got this card to get 12 months no interest. After 3 months I got a 30 dollar late fee and my minimum payment went up to 40 bucks. I will be paying the full balance and cancelling this account not worth the trouble.

DON'T GET THIS CARD. I got it in October of this year (2007), and they played me. They said it was interest free for 12 months, and that I wouldn't have to start paying until then. Tell me why a month later I got late payment fees and all crap...Please read this carefully: DO NOT GET THIS RADIOSHACK CARD UNLESS IT'S THE LAST CREDIT CARD ON EARTH. It's bad for your credit. Trust me.

Got the card, like others, fully taking advantage of no interest for 1 year, along with the first time use discounts, etc... Saved me a couple hundred dollars. Use it pretty regularly for battery and other purchases, including the new Blade (Sprint). Had only one issue a few months after I got the card... CS took care of the problem, reversed the late charges and have not had any problems since then. Have had the card for a couple years now.

I got this card b/c the RS employee told me it was a great deal when you bought two cell phones, no intrest for 12 months no payments, blah blah blah, "I was pratically get the phones for free" was the words I think the sales guy said! Then it all began, I recieved my statements late, even though there were no amounts due. So I though ok, whatever, Then I moved, called changed my address, and all that jazz....Still within the 12 months no intrest no payment deal. So not even thinking about it, I didnt get a statement, while in the mean time I had lost my card, so I called to cancel my card and see what was going on...The CSR told me there was no problem she'll get everything right out to me right away. OK great. Months pass, still nothing. Called Customer Service AGAIN! They sent my statements and my new card to the wrong address! ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? By this time I had late fees and intrest charges up the ***. I was not impressed. When I called for the 10000 time, I was all done with this card. I am not impressed, I was transfered to about 6 different people who had no idea what was going on. While in the mean time my interest rate went up to 28%...How can these people sleep at night, doing this to so many people. DO NOT GET the Radio Shack Credit Card, its a rip off!

Was told there would be a minimum payment of $10.00 / month. No Interest until 2007. Didn't recieve a bill the first month. Made a payment when I found out there was an issue. Was then charged another late fee after paying. Was told the minimum payment amount had jumped from $20 / month to over $60 / month. Have had the card since before Christmas and have only seen 2 bills since. A complete mess... and it ruined my credit...

Credit Card Agreement Trap

Consumer Beware!
I applied for credit with Radio Shack back in 1998 and received a credit line of $2,400.00.
That same day I purchased a computer for $2,288.00. Everything went well until December 2001. I made one late payment due to a death in the family and Citibank raised my interest percentage from 21 to 28 percent and lowered my credit limit from $2,400.00 to $600.00. Now it reflects on my credit report as though I spent $2,288.00 over the new reduced credit limit of $600.00. I tried to explain to Citibank that this looks like I spent over what my new reduced limit is and they were completely rude, arrogant and basically didn't care. I never knew that a credit card company can do this, take away money 3 years after they've given it to you and try to purposely make you look like a criminal. Please, please, please do not do business with this Radio Shack Citibank Card you're just asking for trouble.

I was told in a Radir Shack store that I could apply for a RS card and have my purchase ($1500) intrest deferred for 1 year. I figured this was a good deal. I got the computer and a week or so later got a bill with the INTEREST added. I had to go to court and fight the credit card issuer. I won, including my court cost and attorney fees, but wasted over 1 year of valuable time. They information I was given was incorrect and the paperwork issued by the store was incomplete. Please do not, I urge you, do not use this card or you will get stung! Thank goodness I had the resourses to fight this.

90 DAYS SAME AS CASH

i WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS 90 DAYS SME AS CASH AND YET IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS I RECIEVED A LATE FEE AND INTEREST PAYMENTS THAT TOTALED 33.45. wHEN I CALLED THEY SAID THEY DON'T EVEN OFFER 90 DAYS SAME AS CASH. i HAVE CANCELED THIS CARD AND AM DISPUTING THE FEES. I PAID IT ALL OFF IN THREE PAYMENTS IN LESS THAN 60 DAYS

I used this card to purchase a laptop for my son and was able to take advantage of a limited time offer that saved me over $200 as well as giving me one year to pay with NO interest. Though, the interest would have been phenominal if it had not been paid before then. Of course it is always a wise idea to understand the ways of any kind of credit, they don't just "give it away" after all. This is a company not a charity. But any informed consumer can take great advantage of these oppurtunities. I also use the card on a regular monthly basis for all kinds of needs and especially batteries (saving 10%) and then pay off the balance each month. This card is not for the novice, but allows huge savings for the credit savy.

I applied for this card because of a purchace of $500 I want to make on deffered interest payment for 1 year and I was told at the time of this purchase that as long as it was paid off with in 1 year there would be no interest. The year will be up on Nov of /02 and if it is not paid in full all the interest that would have accumulated over the year I would have to pay. The date is getting close so I call to find out the balance which was $900 total ($500 defered interest and $400 regular purchases). I asked a customer service rep at radio shack how I could make a payment of $500 and make sure it would go on the defered interest purchase to pay that part before it came due to save myself the accumulated that would be compounded. She told me I would have to make arangments with the card issuer if I wanted that payment to go on the deffered purchase so I contacted the card issuer and their customer service rep told me not to worry about it because the deffered intrest purchase was my first purchase on the credit card and that any payment would go towards my first purchase. Luckly I called back to confirm the balance and another customer service rep told me that the info that the other rep gave me was incorrect and that the full balance of the credit card ($900) would have to be paid or I would get stuck with the accumulated interest over the year from the deffered purchase. This was not explained to me when I made the deffered purchase and I think It is a way scamming the consumer buy allowing them to make a purchase on 1 year deffered interest and payment and allowing the person to believe that if they pay this amount off before a year is up they will not be charged any interest but instead of $500 I need to come up with $900 to pay off the full balance. I will pay off the full amount and be done with them. I think this is a sneeky way of doing business and poorly trained customer service staff
