DO NOT ACQUIRE THIS CARD!!
06/29/2008
My husband and I received the Sam's Club credit card in the mail that we never applied for with a $400 limit. We were skeptical from the beginning and so I called and after speaking with a representative, we thought we'd give it a try. We charged one item just to see if the card worked and it did. It was a minimal charge of like $30. At the time we had our mail going to a post office box and low and behold we never received our statement. When asked in the store about the statement we were told that it would come in the mail. After 2 months of calling around trying to get a statement or even a balance nothing ever came of it. On the 3rd month we received a call from their collection department stating that the account is past due. My husband voiced his concerns and paid the account right then. The next month we took time and drove 40 minutes to our closest Sam's Club to buy some items and tried to use the card and it was declined. We went to the front desk to find out why, they gave us a telephone number to call and upon calling this number we were told that the account had been closed. Needless to say we paid for our groceries with another form of payment, but my husband was irate and now we cannot get this off of our credit report. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR CREDIT!!

BEWARE OF THE GAMES AND INTREST
02/05/2008
Go approved for Sams Club and the 24% intrest form the start was a tooth kicker, To say that they are slow on posting payments is a understatement. 14 days if mailed 7 days if done online. I even caught them delaying the payment several times. The copy of the check stated on the back the fourth of the month but they posted it the twenty-first. Watch this if you get this card I closed it out for I was tired of wasting my time of the phone to rude non helpful persons. BEWARE
Most Attractive Feature: none high intrest and very bad customer service, slow to post payments, rude service

Sams Club is STILL ruining my credit!!! Been payed for 5 months, still denying payment received
05/13/2006
I opened a Sams Club card in 2000. Used it only a couple of times, and carried a balance of $235. Due to some events in September 2001, my company had to close. I began to fall behind on my payments, and had to consider Bankruptcy. I hired an attorney, and all of the calls from my creditors stopped.
Shortly thereafter, I got another job, and began to pay off my debts rather than follow thru with bankruptcy. Sams Club was one of my payments made. I have a cancelled check showing it was cashed, yet they still reported "Bankruptcy" on my credit report. I have called and called, and been on hold for hours waiting to speak to someone who could help. If I would be on hold, and 5:00PM came up, their phone system would just dump my call. Finally, after a hold time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, I got ahold of an agent who informed me that they showed NO PAYMENT received. I told her I could fax or email a copy of my cancelled check, but she stated they will only accept correspondence by snail mail. I guess they don't believe in that technology stuff!
I know they cashed my check, but I guess they don't have any kind of accounting practice to correctly place the payment with the account. HMMM...pretty convenient for them! Free cash...
I would be happy to sigh on to a lawsuit that forces them to comply with State Banking Regulations, and to stop the abuse of those who use their credit card system.
PS...Do the research, Sams Club and Wal-Mart destroy local economies and outsource their products to be made in sweat shops in China and Indonesia without any worker protection! Kind of like what they are trying to do here. Wake up! Mine is not the only story like this!
Most Attractive Feature: ability to go into debt to purchase their cheap imported junk
Least Attractive Feature: no way to deal with them by phone or internet...and no verification of receipt by mail

DISCOVER when you shop at Sam's Club
01/21/2005
Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia is currently facing litigation from consumer protection groups for just plain BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES, i.e. charging more than different states allow legally and claiming exemption as a functioning "BANK". The FDIC is backing this to save face from outdated legislation passed and later revoked by Congress in the 1980's. This type of "bank" was a bad idea then and seems to still be a bad idea today.
In my personal experience with Sam's Club Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia I've found their interest rate to be gratuitously higher than comparable store cards for my excellent credit rating with no added benefits such as length grace periods or incentives. In fact the only real benefit I've discovered so far is that Sam's Club accepts this card. The customer service is lacking from my experience as well. At 24.9% interest one would think this "bank" could staff a 24/7 call center capable of answering such hard questions as "How much do I owe?" or "When is my payment due?" One would at least think a "bank" with no branches, ATMs, or service centers could take a payment easily over the phone or Internet. Well, not this "bank".
In summary if you're going to shop at Sam's and use plastic, then just DISCOVER the possibilities.

Sam's Club Credit Card
11/01/2004
During the past year and a half, I have had several problems getting my payments applied to my account correctly, or posted to my account at all. This has resulted in my credit being affected, and being harassed by collection people from the card calling, and asking why I haven't paid. Then, they realize that I did. After hours on the phone, i am called again to start all over with the next person who says I did not pay. The electronic online payments are lost, the card doesn't credit the right account, or I am unable to reach a customer service person on the phone. For example, today I had to make 6 attempts before
I actually was able to talk to anyone. After 10 minutes on the phone we were disconnected. They are not able to call me back. So, the process starts again. I've been trying to pay the bill for a Week. But I will persist.
Most Attractive Feature: None by the card --only the discounts you receive on the purchased items.
Least Attractive Feature: Trying to pay the bill or get it posted when paying by check or online-they're lost.

I have had a sams membership since 1998. In March of this year I was making a purchase and the cashier stated I was pre-approved for $600.00 worth of credit. I was skeptical at first because I have damaged credit, I asked a few questions and was satisfied and had the cashier charge my purchase that day to the card.
I then proceeded over to the membership desk to get my new card that would also access my credit account.
I have had no problems so far making payments. My payment is do by the 22nd of the month and I usually send in my payment two weeks prior to that, and all payments have posted in a timely manner, even when making multiple payments during the month.
I never qualified for a Discover card, which is the only other credit card that is accepted at my Sams Club here in Michigan, and am thrilled to have this card account, it is so convenient especially at the end of the month when cash my be tight to be able to charge and pay later.
And the fact that you can you this card at Walmart is just an added bonus, although I wish it could be used at walmart.com.
The 90 day same as cash option seems a good feature although I have yet to use it, because of the low credit limit I have currently.
With any credit account you must act responsibly, send payments in on time, and ensure enough time for the creditor to receive and post the payment.

My husband& I have had athis card for many, many years. We had a balance of $400 on this card, & had had HIGHER balances before & paid complete balance with no late payments. However, earlier this year, my husband & I went out of the country (Germany & Holland) for a couple of months. We had our payments set up through electric funds. However, when we returned from our trip, we found that these payments had not been received by Sam's. So I went to Walmart & made several payments, which all but 1 were posted to the debt. That 1 payment of $25 cash cannot be found. We explained all of this to Sam's credit dept. However, they canceled this card. Also, payments made to Walmart were not posted on the date I paid them.
We are very disappointed in the service & manner in which this matter was handled.

Sam's Club Credit Card Experience.
06/04/2004
I have owned closed to a dozen credit cards in the past and decided to get Sam's club credit card for emergency use and for their lucrative offer of 299 up charge with 3 months to pay on it. I have to close the my account recently for the following reasons :
1. ) Customer Service - call them about my payment being not credited or posted. My bank check already cleared and I want to verify if it was in their system. NO CSR can verify where my money is which made me nervous how their systems work. Anyway , I sent a copy of the check and soon enough I saw the credit payment. They did gave me Apology letters afterward. Apology accepted but I don't take risk when in comes to my hard-owned money.
2. ) Bookeeping/Accounting :Took a computer purchase (arnd. 900 bucks ) and I am glad I could used my card for a 3-month no interest purchase. I was only given two billings/or 2 months on it before I was intructed to pay it in full. BE CAREFUL about these scheme, if in 3 months you don't pay , they will charge interest from the very first day you purchase your items. So, make sure to pay it in 3 months.
PROS:
1. ) Online Access - online payment. But uses 3rd party to handle online payment. I also use Costco and it is a direct payment from my checking account(NO 3rd party).
2. ) 3 months to pay for purchases 299 and up.
If their customer service or accounting process has been great, this card would really be good. You'll probably be better with Diner's Card if you want credit card with Sam's club.
Most Attractive Feature: 3 months no interest on single purchase 299 and up.

Sam's Club Credit/Policy (credit & store)
04/29/2004
I have been a Sam's Club member for almost three years. I have a business account. I applied for a personal credit line about a year later, and received a line of $300.00. I wanted to reestablish my credit after a bankruptcy over three years ago, due to divorce. I have had perfect credit since. I paid Sam's Club at least twice the amount each month, and early. I went online to make a payment and check my account, and found out, it had been closed. I figured there had to be a mistake, so I called them. I was told they found something on my credit that they didn't like, so they closed my account. I asked if it could have been the bankruptcy from over three years ago, and was told possibly. I told her that was bad business, since I had been making payments ahead of time and at least double. She looked at my account and agreed. She said the only thing she could do for me, is if I paid my account in full, then I could reapply. I told her I would never want to reapply, because I didn't feel it was handled correctly.
Also, I found out that they took a check from someone else (about 8 or 10 hours away from where I live) and let them use my ID#. I was put in the check system over it, and had to send the scan system, Sam's club, and the district attorneys office a copy of my drivers license, to prove it wasn't my check. Why wouldn't they match the check with the ID, or the Sam's Club account? I call this not PROTECTING their customers. All I can say, is I will not renew my Sam's Club Account. I will go to Costco. I just feel like other customers should know about this kind of problems, because it could happen to anyone.

That same day I also recieved a letter from Sam's about extending me a line of credit, and I would need two forms of identification to claim it. Apparently, someone else claimed it with their own ID. customer serviice industry
03/04/2004
One reason why customer service seems so bad, is because the bank does not want to spend time talking to you. Thats right. Service reps have a handle time, a set amount of time, literally a few miuntes, in which they must handle any one phone call. They can loose their jobs if they dont do so regulalry.
This is how the phone based customer service industry works though. The attitiude in the industry is 'get them off the phone' as fast as possible. As a result, people with serious issues often suffer the most. Nobody wants to get those calls which take an hour to solve, because they know, if this happens regualary, it can cause them to loose their jobs. Rather than the rep doing the research, he/she simply notes the issue on the acct, and forwards the account to someone else,(usually in INDIA, yes, INDIA) telling you it will take 'x' amount of days to handle the issue. Ever fee like your being passed around when you call your credit card company? This is why. This is just how the industry works.
This business is like walking aa tightrope. You have to stay right in the center as a service rep. If you go a little off center, the client get more or less for their money, and the industry views neither as a good thing. If you go to far off center, well, you fall.
The indusrty would do well to change, but it probably wont, because money talks. This a a multi-billion dollar industrythe way it is. As long as cosumers buy the products(that is, use their credit cards) and continue to do so regularly, not much will change.Sure not everyone will be happy, but your kiffing yourself if you think a company with millions of customers care what a few hundred, even a few thousand, think. They care about what they might do, but no what they think. People, en masse , must decide that they dont like the way things are handled, and stop using private label credit cards, and then the industry just might listen.
On a side note, many americans have lost their jobs because the industry sees fit to transfer jobs to india. By and large, credit card comapnioes who doe this should not be conidered american companies, rather, companies that peorate in America. There is a big difference. These companies are out for one thing and one thing only, the bottom line. Anything that stands in the way of that is irrelevant to the industry.

Great card if used responsibly
02/06/2004
I started using this card in April 2002 with a limit of only $300. That's a low limit, but at the time was happy I could even get a card due to a bad credit past.
I always make sure I keep my balance lower than 30% of my credit limit. I also try to pay off the balance every month. I never pay only the minimum amount due.
In November 2002 my limit was slightly increased to $350. May 2003 it was increased to $550. September 2003 it raised to $1000. I'm currently at a limit of $1500.
It has taken time and responsible use of the card, but I'm happy with my progress so far.
I read all the bad reviews about the samsclub card here and thought I should tell about my positive experience. I have no complaints whatsoever about this card. I highly recommend it.

Absolute B/S

I had a card from Sam's and had to cancel card becasue of the absolute B/S. I bought a 90 day same as cash item, back in 2000. I was charged interest fees and had to call them. They stated it was my responsibility to notify Sams credit and tell them it was a promotion. After the 90 days I called and asked for the proper amount to pay off the card, they gave me an amount. the next month i got charged more interest charges and again called them. They gave me the proper amount to pay and it would eliminate the interest charges. The interest charges continued and nobody would help. Numerous phone calls and letters were written, finally I got somebody to assist me, in Dec. 2003, 3 1/2 years later. They have lied, blown me off, cursed at me and always blamed me for all of the problems. I even sent a payment check to there customer service center in a different state, to try and get an answer. The customer service person called and told me to never send a payment to that address in the future. The check was never seen again, never has cleared the bank and nobody at Sam's ever called me to explain. But they didn't hesitate to turn this matter over to a bill collector, even the bill collector laughed when I told him how screwed up this was. My account is closed and I will never shop there again!

Sams club credit card - Don't do it!
01/07/2004
I use credit cards responsibly and have excellent credit. I've never had so much trouble with a credit card in my life. I paid in a timely manner and was hit for a late charge every single month I had this card. Even when sending my payment in two weeks early. I still got a late charge. Customer service was no help whatsoever. I was told that my payment would not be accepted if I sent it certified mail. Then they cancelled my card because I didn't use it enough and placed a late payment notice on my credit report.
Avoid them like the plague or it will cost you major money. I calculated that I wound up paying over $500.00 on merchandise that would have cost me only $300.00 had I paid cash or used another card. Never again. I shop Costco now and am very happy.

Hi, Well, I thought, How convinent I will get a sams club card. Well convinent I think not. About a month ago, I had to renew our membership, and they said that their was no difference in our credit card account if we switch from business to personal. Liars, or mis informed, I don't know. So anyways it got switched. Now the lovely people decide they can transfer the bill that we charged but not the payment that pays it off. You see we pay our balance off each month because there apr sucks. So anyways, I had to argue with them, and they didn't reject the payment saying the account is closed, it's just sitting out, there, and they won't fix it. It just makes me want to scream. I would not reccomend it. It is not convinent, it is not reliable, and the customer service, not helpful. I would however reccomend checkfree, I pay my bills thru them, and they are helping me fight back against sam's club

Avoid Monogram unless you have sterling credit
08/22/2003
First Monogram cancelled our Exxon account, apparently because of a couple of late payments. (We've since paid off the balance, which was less than $100.) Now they've lowered our Sam's account credit line from $600 to $300, apparently based mainly on the fact that we have high balances on all of our credit cards, and are relatively new cardholders, which lowers our credit score. Admittedly we have had late payments with the Sam's account too but are now caught up. However, our balance is still over $300 so if they start charging overlimit fees I am going to go ballistic. Understand I am not blaming Sam's, but since their credit card is issued by Monogram, you need to be careful. If you have occasional late payments or even if you just keep a high balance you may run into trouble with your Sam's card. Put it this way: A letter in the mail from Monogram Credit Bank of Georgia is probably going to yield an unpleasant surprise.

07/25/2003
Without notice and with no explanation, Monogram closed my account at Sam's. The way I discovered it was when I attempted to check out and charge a purchase. When I questioned Monogram, I was told I would receive a letter. Approximately 10 days later, I received a letter that "explained" their reasoning - which made no sense. This was only the latest problem I had with Monogram. So, I decided to "tie up" $5.00 of my assets. As I pay my bills on-line through my bank, I set up an automatic monthly payment on my Sam's Club card of $5.00. Every month, although my account has been closed, I receive a a statement telling me I have a $5.00 credit, no payment is necessary and I will receive a check. A few weeks later, a check arrives in the mail - and the process continues. I figure it costs Monogram about $15.00 to process and send me a refund check. This has been going on for 2+ years. You do the math! Does it hurt them? Not yet but I get some intrinsic satisfaction.

Sam's Credit Card
07/23/2003
I got a card and just as we moved. With trying to get used to having to pay utiilites (due dates), Increased rent amount and new due date, I was late 3 times by a few days because you can't make payments in the store and payments on the computer take 3 or 4 days. They cancelled my card without giving me a chance to establish my payment record. I made several phone calls to try to straighten it out and once when I was out of town and got too sick to come home for a month. But they would not listen or work with me at all. So if they are going to be so unreasonable and nasty, I don't care now if I ever pay them or not.

PAYMENTS
04/26/2003
I have had my MCCBG/Sam's Club card for close to a year. During this time I have always made the minimum or more then the minimum balance due. Plus when I had it to the maximum amount one time the balance was paid off in full. Up until this time it has never been late. Just this month I was late because I totally forgot the due date. So I was planning on making a payment for more then the amount due for next month. Low and behold I get a letter in the mail, informing me of my "delinquency on this account" and telling me they are dropping my credit balance in half. Does this mean they are going to charge me "over the limit" fees for the amount that's over this balance now? I certainly hope not, but I will keep everyone posted. I have been a member of Sam's Club for more then 10 years, but this credit card issue better be resolved soon or they will be losing more members.

THE REASON CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SOO POOR FOR SAMS CLUB CREDIT CARD
04/23/2003
Sams Club is a wonderful store. The credit program they offer with their card is nice, until something goes wrong.
I am an employee of Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia, aka General Electric Capital Corporation, a division General Electric. (herein after- MCCBG)
I experience every day, and on some days every hour, literally, every issue I've read about here.
Why is the sams credit card rated so poorly? I'll tell you why. To begin with, general electric is not centralized. They have offices all over the counrty and the world. Customer service is in one location, and research is in another. When a real problem occurs that needs to be researched, it is done at another location. As a customer service rep, guess what, we have no way to contact our staff who does the reseacrch! Yes, thats correct! Nor can we do the research ourselves, for the most part.
This lack of commuication is a big problem at MCCBG. Why? well that has to do partly-but mainly with something called a 'handle time', and make the old saying "time is money" quite relevant.
When you call that 800 number and a rep picks up the phone, that rep is supposed to handle each caller and their issue-no matter the issue, within about 3 minutes. Thats not alot of time.
Because its a call center, calls have to be measured this way. Otherwise, if you think the wait is long now, you'ld litterally never get thru to a rep. MCCBG would have to hire so many people, they couldnt afford it.
The small 'handle' time, however, creates a problem for employees, and subsequently the members. Employees who consistently do not meat this handle time and go over it, have been and can be fired for that! Thats right! Fired for talking to sams club member for too long. This puts tremendous preasure on the employee to 'pass the buck'- do whatever you can to make the all as short as possible, you never know how long the next will be.
Ever feel like you're being passed around like a ball in a game of catch when you call customer service? This is why. This is why the service ratings are so poor. Just 2 or 3- 20 or 30 min. calls can cause an employee not to meet for that day. If that that happens every day, it can cause an employeee, eventually to loose his job. To keep that from hapening, you get treated poorly, and your issue takes forever to resolve.
In this day and age where many issues are solved quickly, MCCBG seems to be taking up the rear.
In short then, customer serive for the Sams club credit card is poor because of poor communication and lack of ample time to handle serious customer issues.
Sams club and MCCBG have a contract that states that MCCBG must meet a certain overall call handling time. If as reps, we dont meet it, then MCCBG doesnt meet it. We are their bread and butter in that sense. If they dont meet it consistantly, Sams club will take their business elsewhere. MCCBG looses business, big time. If that happens, we loose our jobs, and MCCBG looses money.
**** Its all one big balancing act.****
Unfortunately, a little weight has to be thrown off here and there to make things balance, and sometimes, that translated into poor customer service. Time is indeed money. If we take too long to answer the majority of calls, the comapny looses money. If we answer them in too short a time, then MCCBG is spending more than it needs to, and loosing money in ther long run. Its like getting second cut of beef for the price of first. MCCBG just wants to get 1st cut for 1st cut price, and second cut for second cut price. Nothing more, nothing less. But thats easier said then done in this business, and you the customer often suffer for it, and dont even realize why.
I hope people find this educational and informative. I do trully like my job, and am frustrated when I cant solve issues for members because of the system MCCBG has created. This is a basic explanation of how the business works. It is actualy much more complicated than this, but the above explanation should give you a general idea ofof why the customer service is rated so poorly.
I am not putting this out here to degrade MCCBG or Sams Club, just to let people know the facts.

We have had our card for approx 6 months. We used it and paid the balance in full. One month we had a large purchase and could only pay half the balance. The next time we went into the store, they told us that our card had been discontinued. We were unable to call and resolve the issue amd wound up leaving the items we had in the store. A month later, we receive a letter saying we have not made a payment in several months and were delinquint in our account. They are nasty to us on the phone and threatened to report the delinquincies to our credit. Even after we sent copies of checks showing our perfect pay record, they still would not reopen our account or correct our payment history. We paid the account in full and requested the account closed. They still have not sent us a closing letter and we just received a response letter saying that we only missed a couple of months worth of payments before we made a payment!!! Arghhh! We have never been so shocked or upset. Even after all the effort we have put forth to correct the situation, they still cannot get it right! We are so upset that we cancelled our Sams memberships. You have to wonder how long this will take place before SAMS as a company will take care of the problem!!!

MY EXPERIENCE WITH SAM'S CLUB/MCCBG
02/04/2003
I OPENED AN ACCOUNT IN 2001. I HAD MY ACCOUNT FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. ALWAYS PAID BEFORE THE DUE DATE AND ALWAYS PAID WAY MORE THAN THE MINIMUM PAYMENT. GRANTED I ONLY HAD A $300.00 CREDIT LIMIT FOR IT WAS FOR A NEW SMALL BUSINESS. IMAGINE BUYING SUPPLIES FOR YOUR BUSINESS AND FOR A LARGE COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT. SOMETIMES THE BALANCE COULD GET ALMOST TO THE MAX. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'RE WAITING ON YOUR COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT TO PAY YOU SO YOU CAN PAY THE CARD. THERE WAS ONLY ONE MONTH WHEN I COULDN'T ALMOST PAY THE CARD OFF BECAUSE OF THE ABOVE SO THE NEXT MONTH WHEN I WAS PAID I PAID THE CARD. WENT TO USE THE CARD AND WAS TOLD MY PRIVELEGES HAD BEEN CUT. NO MORE USING OF THE CARD. I AM STANDING IN LINE WITH ITEMS TO PURCHASE. WHAT AN EMBARASSMENT. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD EVER HEARD OF A COMPANY SUSPENDING YOUR PRIVELEGES BECAUSE YOU HAD TOO HIGH OF A CREDIT BALANCE. I ALWAYS ASSUMED AS LONG AS YOU NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT AND WERE ON TIME NO PROBLEM. WRONG NOT WITH SAM'S CLUB. NOW UNDERSTAND I ALSO HAVE A WALMART CARD THROUGH MCCBG AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH IT ONLY SAM'S CLUB.

Lost Payments
03/04/2002
Twice Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia has lost our payment on our Sam's Club Credit Card. Both times we paid the full amount and the payment check cleared. HOwever, MCCBofG said we needed to provide proof of payment, or pay an additional Finance Charge or repay the total amount and have it recorded on our credit history. SInce we had already paid the bill (Over $700) We began amassing the information they demanded. The first time we shrugged it off as a simple mistake. When it happened again two months later we went ballistic. We were quickly told that Sam's Club has nothing to do with the credit card bank and all dealings must be done directly with them. To their credit, the local Sam's Club Manager offered to reimburse us for any fees our bank might charge us for obtaining proof that we had paid the bill.
None of this makes up for the frustration and embarassment we suffered when told in the check out line that our credit card and credit were not acceptable.
Most Attractive Feature: Can be used at Sam's Club.
Least Attractive Feature: Ability to lose payments.

The card itself is fine if you never have to call customer service. All of their CS representatives speak poor english and it makes it difficult to communicate properly.
You have to ask to get your credit limit raised. The only payment option they offer is mail in payments and you had better make sure your payment is sent well in
advance of the due date or they will call you the day after it's due and hassass you. This happened to me one time and I really resented being treated like this.
They will put a hold on your account if your check is delayed. Not customer friendly. I have many other cards and I always have had really good customer service
relations. This one I believe is foriegn run and they just do things a lot differant. Not a good representative of the All American Walmart stores and service.
