| "Simmons: Bad business move!" |
I applied for and received a Simmons First Visa Platinum. I chose this card because of it's low FIXED rate. (Having had a Bank of America card that jumped from 5.9 to 11.9, I did not want to experience this again.)
The Simmons First Visa Platinum card is NO LONGER fixed and management has blamed this business change on Federal Government Legislation. This is the card Simmons markets to consumers with excellent credit.
However, there has been NO legislation that requires or recommends changing from Fixed to Variable rates. This decision was wholly Simmons' management's decision. In fact, the gouging of Variable rates on credit cards is now under examination for future legislation because of consumer abuse by lenders. Current legislation that would impact credit card rates does not roll out until mid 2010 - and this legislation is in the benefit of the consumer - limiting the variable percentage increases lenders can apply.
The letter stated, "Due to recently enacted federal legislation on credit cards, Simmons First has found it necessary to change some of our credit card membership rules." My interpretation of this change Simmons has made makes me think they are going to try to 'get the gouging in while the gouging is good' before they are limited or monitored by Federal Legislation in 2010 and that that is the legislation they are referring to ... Simmons First card holders, "Watch Out!" |

| "Please just change my name" |
| A long time cardholder, I remarried five years ago and requested my name be changed. They sent me a credit application. I wrote them and told them that I was not requesting additional credit, just my name changed on the account. They sent me a credit application. I wrote them again- another credit app. Is this sex discrimination? |

| "CUSTOMER SERVICE" |
| AFTER YEARS OF USING, BUT NEVER CARRYING A BALANCE DUE, I CANCELLED MY ACCT. WITH SIMMONS BECAUSE WHILE ON AN EXTENDED VACATION (I'M RETIRED) I RECEIVED A HARRASSING PHONE FOR A BALANCE OF LESS THAN $30 THAT HAD NOT RECEIVED THE MINIMUM PAYMENT DUE (WHILE I WAS ON VACATION). WHEN I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION I WAS DEALT WITH IN THE RUDEST WAY IMAGINABLE. I CONTINUE TO USE MY L.L. BEAN AND USAA WITH GREAT PLEASURE AND SATISFACTION. |

| If I get behind, for whatever reason, they give me call. They do not harrass or try to humiliate me. Often, I do a pay over the phone at no extra charge and bring my account current. |

| "Great Find" |
| This card is great..it is a gem. Thank goodness more people don't know about it. I hope they never get to big to offer the fantastic customer service that they do. No hidden charges, no late fees for being 30 seconds late paying your bill, and no companies calling saying they got your name from Simmons..do you need updated siding???? I would highly reccommend this card. Only downside is the high annual fee kind of offsets the low interest rates. Still a great deal |

| "Senior Citizen's Friend" |
This low-interest rate card is a senior's best friend. It has one of the
lowest rates around. Seniors, this is one of the most reliable credit cards around. It's the only one I use. |

| "Interest rates" |
| I have been a card holder for 15+ years & never had a problem with them. They even stuck with me through my divorce and worked with me. As of June '01, I am paying only 8.5%. This is my personal favorite. |

| "Good Cust Serv/Low Rates" |
| The rates are low and stay low. No suprises with this card. The customer service people are very cordial. Have had no bad experiences with this card and have been with them for over six years. Only problem is high annual fee. Worth it for lack of hassle! |
