My bill for Sony Chase was due in late August 2006. I told customer service that since I deposit my check into two accounts, that I could make 2 payments which equaled the amount that was due. I was told that I couldn't make two payments from two seperate checking accounts on the same day. I would have to wait until the next day to make the second payment, which would make me late on the total amount due. I decided to speak to a manager since I never heard of such a policy. He confirmed what the represenative had said and told me to also expect a late fee! I told him under no circumstances am I paying a late fee because of their policies. Sure enough, next month's bill had a late fee. It took 2 billing cycles to take it off, and much aggrevation due to the customer service dept. Then when I called for an APR reduction, they told me due to my "late payments" they were unable to approve it. This is one of the worse experiences I have had with a credit card.

Customer service departments do not honor each other's commitments

09/15/2004
I received a low 1.99% interest rate check for up to my credit limit for balance transfers. My current credit report shows I have more debt than I do as I'm consolidating debt and transferring balances to lower interest cards. I called on Friday, Sept 10 explained the situation and was told a check in the amount of $4400 would be honored. On Tuesday, Sept 15 I received a call from their Convenience Check review department to inform me they were not going to honor the check. Going through two layers of mgt I was told that reviews of all 3 credit bureaus showed I had larger amounts of debt than they are reporting. I was also told I had 7 credit card payments currently past due. I had one that was reported by Equifax and Chase is correcting that. The customer service was rude, blatantly implied I was lying and did not want to hear that I had been under medical care with some heavy medications. When I stated that I always meet my financial obligations the statement was "that's what everyone tells us". Not honoring a check that their customer service department had told me would be is placing me at risk for insufficient funds on several other credit card payments that I was consolidating and expenses that I should not incur of approximately $179 total. I was told I could contact another department and send them copies of the statements to determine if I some of the charges might be covered by Bank One, but that was not likely. I was then hung up on. I am documenting the circumstances for my attorney for possible legal action. This is the worst experience with a credit card company that I have had in the 24 years of using credit cards.
