"Gouging their best customers"
I was a SWA credit card customer for over 10 years. I typically pay off the balance immediately or within a couple of months. The last time I did this, I received a follow-up bill with a mysterious $33.00 transaction charge. According customer service, this was a new add-on "transaction processing fee" they charged to process my payment! I then noticed they had jacked up my interest rate to over 27%. I asked them if they would remove the $33 charge (ludicrous, especially considering the interest rate)and they refused. I cancelled my account. Very painful to do, as I had quite a few earned miles.

I love this credit card! I have had several others but have come back to this one. I love that it now goes to Minneapolis. It's very easy to use the rapid rewards online.

"Bank One is Bank None"
I had a Southwest Rewards Visa for years. I used my entire available credit one month and then paid the balance immediately the next month. I then received a notice that my interest rate was being raised to 28.74% because I had used most of my credit line. They refused to listen to any compromise. Needless to say, I don't have this card anymore and have recently switched to a credit union issued card. I would suggest anyone to do just that.

"Our experience"
We use this card often and get between 2-3 flight coupons per year. The annual reward ceiling is fairly high so the $39 Classic card is suitable for most if car rental insurance is not needed. Another advantage is that you can use a half coupon for one way and use the other later if returning by other means. They also make great gifts.
Bills may be paid at any Bank One branch or ATM, mail, autopay or online, which is another convenient plus. |

"Southwest Airlines Visa Card"
My family has travelled on many free Southwest Airlines flights because of the flight credit benefit from First USA Visa. For every $1000 that you charge, you receive 1 flight credit. 16 flight credits gives you a free Southwest Airlines round-trip anywhere they fly. I have always found fabulous customer service with First USA, and find their online account site to be easily navigable and very helpful. Statements are easy to read, and all in all, it's been a great company to be in business with!

"Southwest First USA Visa - A place to earn miles"
We have been very happy with this card. We signed up several years ago and have earned over a five free tickets on Southwest Airlines from using this card. In addition, the customer service and attention has alway been wonderful. When my husband has been traveling, I was contacted at home concerning the unsual charges to be sure that the card had not been stolen. Just this past Christmas our card was not stolen, but someone had gotten the number and was using it fraudulently. First USA contacted us the same day to identify if there was a problem. The process for cancelling and getting a new card was easy. We are also able to go to their web site and easily download transaction information into Quicken.

"Fraud misinformation from customer service doubles loss"
We recently were informed that our travel agent, who charged our credit card $12,807 for a cruise, never paid the cruise company for the trip which is due to leave in 10 days. After filing a report with the Better Business Bureau online (www.bbb.com), we were made aware of hundreds of other people that this travel agency ripped off. The owner has been arrested for fraud.
After spending over 8 hours on the phone being passed around between First USA's Customer Service, dispute department, and Security/Operations department, I was told by 3 separate supervisors in the Security Department that we would would be covered for this loss due to it being fraud. One agent, even was kind enough to reactivate our card (it was closed after the initial reporting of this incident) to process a $11,000 charge balance to the cruise company. After this supervisor processed this charge, she called me to let me know that everything was okay and for us not to worry about anything.
The very next day, after all tickets were processed, I received a call from "ED" (refused to give me a last name) who works in their Security/Operations Dept (same department that handled the charge) to tell me that I am liable for BOTH charges. He said that my situation is considered a "dispute" and not fraud, because I had given my credit card information to this agency. If it is considered a "dispute" versus "fraud" we will be stuck for all charges. Because these charges were all processed in August, the 60 day time limit has passed for filing a dispute, even though we just found out about this scam 11/20. "Ed" informed me that all 3 people in his department that I talked with the previous day had given me misinformation and that they do not take any responsibility for this misinformation. This misinformation has now doubled my loss. |
