"If you are allowed to spend more than your limit, why is there a limit?"
I liked my card just fine until the bill came and I was over my limit. I had kept track of my spending and so I new that I had the money to pay the bill in full, as I always do, however, if I had known that they were going to charge me $30 for going over, I wouldn't have done so. I had begun putting everything from groceries and gas to dinner out, on my card to rack up the miles. I called customer service and they removed the charged and added something that will enforce my limit so that when it is reached, I won't be able to use it. Isn't this what is supposed to happen from the beginning? In the end, the problem was solved, but what a hassel!

"United miles for free"
This is an excellent card that I have used for over three years. I don't know about how competitive their interest rates are, as I always pay my balance in full. But the benefits of the card are great, it covers everything that you would expect a card to cover, such as price protection, rental car insurance, warranty extension etc. And you get 1 mile for each $2 that you spend in general, and 10 miles for each $1 at certain restaurants! NO annual fee!! Also, excellent customer service. Have always had any issues resolved quickly. Have had to dispute a few charges, all turned out in my favor. I am hearing impaired and use their toll free TTY line, and First USA provides excellent service for hearing impaired customers as compared to my other credit card banks (Citibank, American Express). If you fly United, I highly recommend this card. You probably can even continue to use the card after you graduate from school.

Most attractive feature: frequent flier miles with no fee
Least attractive feature: not so modern card appearance

"Top rate for students who need a practical credit card."
I have had my United College Plus Visa Card for approximately one month, and am very happy with it. I first learned about it on this website, and when I went to their homepage, applying online was very easy. I received my card a short while later, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had trusted me with a $2500 credit limit, despite my limited credit history and the fact that I have several college loans outstanding. Though the airline rewards program only offers you .5 miles for every dollar spent, they give you 2500 miles just for joining, and since it has no annual fee, there's nothing to really complain about. I enjoy getting something for the money I spend, which is why I stopped using my Citibank student card, which only trusted me with $500, and had no member benefits, (though they were extremely helpful when my credit card number was stolen). One should note, however, that you have to accumulate 25,000 miles before you can cash in a free flight, which translates to $11,250 after the initial free 2500 miles. So unless you normally charge A LOT of money on your credit card, don't expect to be flying off to Las Vegas on United Airline's dime anytime soon. This is a long-term rewards program. Also, they ask you for your United Airlines frequent flyer number when applying, so be sure to register with the airline before you go to the online application. Fortunately, I flew United Airlines a few years ago, and already had one. In conclusion, if you pay off your bill each month, want to build credit, and want a cheap rewards program, this is the card for you.

Most attractive feature: A generous credit limit.
Least attractive feature: Airline miles plan only offers .5 miles for every dollar spent.

"Great card for small users"
I have had this card since my freshman year of college, and I love it. I started with a fairly generous credit limit (at the time), and it has been raised nearly every year or two since. My current credit limit is around $10,000.

Using it keeps all of the old miles in my United Airlines Mileage Plus program "alive" – as use of the card creates monthly activity in the Mileage Plus program.

The only two drawbacks are that you only earn 1 miles per $2 spent, and there is a cap of 10,000 miles per calendar year, which only affects you if you spend more than $20,000 per year on your credit card.

Customer service is pretty good. The hold times are fairly short (<5 min), and the one time that there were fraudulent charges, they were removed promptly with no difficulty.

All in all, this is a great card for people who don't use credit cards too much, and don't want to pay an annual fee.

Most attractive feature: Free miles (no annual fee)
Least attractive feature: Only 1 mile per $2 spent

"good credit limit, customer services just so so"
i have this card for about 9 months and i don't have a single problem with it. while other credit card companies offering me only a mere 500 credit line, they offered me initially at 1500 credit line, which i think very generous to a college undergrad. also their milegae program is very attractive, though not many miles can be accumulated thru the card (1 miles per $2 spent) but w/o any annual fee, i believe this is a pretty good deal.

Most attractive feature: mileage reward w/o annual fee, high credit limit
Least attractive feature: customer respresentatives occasionally not very helpful
