| "Reloading card with cash" |
| The card was great while my daughter was on a school trip to Italy & Switzerland. Now she and her twin brother are driving I obtained one for my son, too, so that I didn't have to keep lending them my own credit card for gas. I have discovered that there is a limit on the number of times money can be loaded onto the cards - once each per day. There are times I need to add more - such as when the gas station takes an excessive amount in credit - but am unable to do so. A customer service rep admitted this is not on the website nor in the terms of service. The company is misleading customers by not publicising all their rules. There is also no way of emailing them from the website. I found another email form for them and completed it. There was no confirmation of it being sent; merely a statement that "comments are closed". They need to improve their customer service big time. |

| "Extremely tired of having to call these people" |
| When the card works, it's fine. But if something goes wrong, or the card needs to be replaced, be prepared to be accused of being stupid. All problems are the customer's fault. Ridiculous. |

| "ok, but..." |
| The card has worked fine for the past year while my daughter was overseas and we were in the US. But now that she is in the US and we are overseas (Mexico), it is no longer a convenient card for us because I cannot access the website. I am able to load money via the phone but cannot see the website! And because we now have an overseas address, I cannot change to another card because they all require US addresses... I should add that when our daughter was overseas (Thailand) she was not able to access the website either. |

| "no more nagging" |
| I gave the buxx to my daughter at Christmas. It is the best thing I did. She would constantly nag me when we shopped for magazines, chewing gum, make up, etc. Once she got the buxx and I sat her down and explained to her the workings of it, she agreed to show me she can handle the card responsibly. She is 16 now and loves her buxx. No more allowances each week, just load the card twice a month and she knows what she has to spend. She doesn't come to mom to nickel and dime me to death now. She adjusts her spending and knows when her balance is low and if she does not have enough in the account she has to wait to purchase the item. It has helped her with self-control spending. No more knee jerk " I have to have it now" spending. Our shopping is more pleasurable than ever. (She loves carrying a credit card with her a well, makes her really feel like an adult). This card is much better than a gift card, like from American Express or other credit card companies, I tried them and had so much trouble with them at merchants. Many felt they were debit cards and you had to have a PIN number. They were credit cards and no pin number was needed but arguments with merchants were numerous. The buxx is the way to go for your young teen and teaching spending. I am sure there are some teens that would abuse this card by overspending, etc, and not caring about responsibility with the card, but you are always going to have those bad apples in the basket unfortunately. Still, the card is a good thing to help teens understand money and budgeting your accounts, etc. Thanks Visa Buxx for an argument free status about money with my daughter. |

| "Wachovia Visa Buxx" |
I have had 2 children use this card in the past 3 years. One child traveled overseas and this card worked out perfectly. I could track his spending and I felt safe knowing he had access to cash.
My other recently has been out of town (which I found out is not considered traveling) and has found himself in a bad situation and in need of cash. I found out the hard way that even if I put the cash on his card for this emergency he could not get it. I finally got in contact with customer service at Visa Buxx and was told one week that they would extend it so he could access the cash. Well, if anyone has sons they know that emergencies can happen at any time. He called again last night and is need of more cash until he can get home to pay me back. I then put on $350 and call Visa Buxx this morning and now they will not extend it because he is not overseas. Where are these rules posted????? Now I am going to have to drive 4 hours to get my son and will have to come up with another $350 because the money I just loaded on the card last night will not revert back to my account for 10 days.
As I said I have used this card for my children for 3 years, but I will be closing it immediately. If these cards are not good in emergency situations they are no good to me as a parent........ |
