Earn Starwood Points through the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express®
Through the card’s rewards program, cardmembers earn one point per every dollar spent, and double points spent at Starwood hotels through their guest loyalty program. Use Starpoints® for free nights and upgrades at participating Starwood hotels and resorts in 95 countries including Sheraton, W Hotels, Westin and more with no blackout dates. Free nights start as low as 2,000 Starpoints® and there are no blackout dates for cardmembers.
Starpoints® are transferable to over 30 frequent flyer programs, almost always on a 1:1 ratio. You can even use your Starpoints® to "top off" miles through other frequent flier programs.
After your first purchase with the card (within one year of membership), cardmembers will be awarded a total of 10,000 bonus points, which is enough for up to three free nights at a Category 1 or 2 Starwood hotel. And if you spend $15,000 on your card in 6 months, you’ll receive a 15,000-point bonus, which you may also redeem for up to three free nights if you so wish. Additionally, when you transfer 20,000 Starpoints® to miles, you will be awarded 5,000 Starpoints®, which is enough to get up to the 25,000 miles you need for a free domestic ticket (in most programs).

If you want to return something you bought but the merchant refuses to take it back, simply contact American Express within 90 days and it will refund the full purchase price, up to $300.00 per item excluding shipping and handling and up to a maximum of $1,000.00 annually per card account. If you travel more than 100 miles away from home, the card will provide you with legal and medical referrals, lost luggage support, visa/passport help, coverage of up to $100,000 in travel accident insurance, and emergency card/cash replacement. You are even covered when you travel by car. Just relax and enjoy the ride when you use your card to reserve and pay for the rental; the American Express Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance Plan provides coverage for theft of or damage to most rental vehicles (coverage applies for the first 30 days of an auto rental).
Other advantages include the ability to save big on items and events through the card’s American Express Selects program, which puts together great brands and Online Extras(SM) all in one place, as well as an end-of-the-year account summary which is downloadable for free and can be sorted by date, merchant name, or charge amount, depending on your preferences.
